Ah, Kumoko got one step closer to her goal. Good for her. Welcome back.

Looks like this show continues to expand on its fictional world including a location called Sariella. It seems the people there worship a Goddess entity...yikes. I do applaud the show for diving into its world building elements. This show actually does a decent job at that imo.

Dude, 18th episode any my good lord ... if it wasn't for the human part (where something/anything at least happens) i would drop this already. Kumoko just keeps beating the dead horse, her jokes stopped being funny somewhere in the 5th episode, her constant rambling is cringe indusing and her being literally a Kirito also does no help a bit. Walls of pointless text that "explains" stuff are also tragic. I know this is an isekai story, but i was told this one is the best.

So where is it.

Can't believe how far Kumoko has come. She's literally stacked with skills at this point. I can't tell if she's enjoying killing those robbers but seems like it.

Love to see that she's helping the weak and now she's going to get more popular there since she helped that boy with Liver Cancer already. She's been considered as the mythical Beast. Things are surely getting more and more interesting.

Man another really good word building episode. The world building in this series is so damn good. The geopolitical relationships between the countries, the power struggles and religious factions. It can be a bit overwhelming at time, but I’d rather have that than an underdeveloped world.

I love that Kumoko and the human stories are finally meeting up. The elves don’t seem to be happy with her presence though. For some reason they wanna take out Sophia and she’s the only thing standing in their way. Looking forward to that inevitable confrontation

Glad to have Kumoko back in the spotlight this episode with her finding this town. I do like though how the two different timelines have aligning plots most of the time. Both this episode were dealing with these two crazy religions who hate each other. Shun has no real allies to turn with both of those churches not really looking to be helpful, revealing whom they are would only increase danger. Kumoko meanwhile finding the same baby she rescued before being Sophia. Its interesting that this religion at the village there has spiders as sacred which is actually helpful for Kumoko since they don't see her as a threat being so close. Potomas the elf leader and Dustin the pontiff each seem like shady guys. Don't really know whom go trust at this point each of our heroes has their backs against the wall. Kumoko at least has admiration of this village after her healing

No better way to revive back from the brink than feeding on your would be assailant. The baby though really is popular for the completely wrong reasons. Still its nice that we finally get to see Sophia's backstory. Sariella really has quite the unique culture. As elves go the ones in this world are the dark ones in Kumoko's eyes. Still this arc really introduced quite the number of plots from all parties involved here. Kumoko's interference really only served to make things much more tense than usual. From the flow though looks like a tragedy is gonna happen at some point. Overall an interesting ep that while doing a good job at showing where Schlain and his party are at after overcoming their trial also did well in showing the kind of effects that Kumoko's actions unknowingly had upon the land of Sariella as a result of her protection of Sophia. Its unfortunate that her actions are only playing into Dustin's plans though.

The Kumoko character in this anime is very different from one in the LN. LN is much more darker, and she just do what she can trying to survive -- always on the brink of her demise. That is why I was very surprised about the silly tone of her character in the Anime. But I get why they did that -- people are accustomed to see things like "Slime" without any logic and a lot of boobs, and dark tone like in the LN would probably turn away big portion of the audience right away. Still, it somehow managed to work out for me, giving an entirely new taste for the story. And I think you where told correctly -- this is a best isekai there is today (and I would say "Overlord", "Goblin Slayer" and maybe "Shield hero" are fine stories as well). I wish we had much more of that level of serious isekai stories, for more mature audience.

I will always rejoice watching Kumoko's spider part in this show because her side of the contents is far more interesting than the humans' side (which I hope that the 2 sides will meet soon for episodes now).

This is where Basgath ends his journey with Shun and Co., a guide is what he does best amid his aging status. The whole deal of the Pontiff Dustin, the Followers of the Word, the Word of God, the Goddess' Faith...all these mysteries I still can't link for the life of me (surely but slowly), but since the common denominator is Hugo, that's where the fault lies with brainwashing in the town of Sariella.

The "Divine Beast" Nightmare of th Labyrinth spider monster Kumoko saved a vampire's family huh, or more specially the human-vampire baby Shouko Negishi a.k.a Sophia. Kumoko's just insanely OP at this point even with her "Jinxed Evil Eye of Clairvoyance" to get rid of assassins of the vampire family, such a cool spider. Even Potimas himself gets in action, so there's a lot on the line.

Faith, religion, monsters, sects are all centrifugal to the overall plot, though its Kumoko that easily caps all that world-building for simple understanding. More than simple healing of diseases, I'd feel to rewatch this episode again on a slow patch to get the overall picture that Okina Baba is trying to concoct.

Next episode..."class reunion"? Will we finally see the gathering of the Reincarnated class altogether?

Wow wow wow! This episode brought so many spoilers to the table.
Around this point in the WN, many of these would still be unknown things.

For those questioning why people are bothered by Shun:
(Spoiler? - This shouldn't constitute a spoiler but just in case someone thinks it's questionable-tagged!)

Edit: Added a spoiler tag that I feel is unnecessary at this point.

Although, AFAIK, this EP supposed to be before Shiraori/Kumoko's first meeting with Ariel, so they may have already reordered things around.

My personal opinion on this EP, glad to finally have Dustin on screen with dialogues. He's my favorite male char in the series. I expected his voice to be more "roaring" (or charismatic?) than just an old-dude's voice as in the anime though, since he's supposed to be a really charismatic person.

When Potimas says that he could face both Ariel and the Pontiff, and in the present he is already dead lmao

From what I see, kumo-chan made history outside the region where schlain lives, that's why so little was mentioned at the time I want to think, anyway, with so much she is doing, I cannot believe that it goes unnoticed, I suppose that he pontifice has a lot of power

Potimas searching kids only makes me thing that the reincarnated are an elemental piece to avoid the destruction of the world, since the elves apparently if they are on the side of the goddess, hopefully they will explain that in more detail in the following chapters

The anime isn’t following the web novel though, you’re talking about the web novel right now, and I read both the WB and LN. They both had the events happen in very different ways but still got the same end result, but the anime is mostly following the light novel. There are still differences between light novel and anime though.

More intrigue, politics and religion all mixed-up, also the plot building in the background, I'm loving this.
Our kumoko spidey is 100% back (no pieces behind) and she gave some good extended service saving sophie from those elves.

what is with this discrimination against Kumoko these past 2 episodes?

Last week, we had almost the entire episode dedicated to the stereotypical-isekai-male protagonist hero (LOL) and his band of friends going on an adventure; something we had to wait until the last episode of the first cour to get with Kumoko (the Earth Dragon fight). And this week, the amount of screen time Kumoko got was again interrupted by that guy and his friends ~8 minutes in!

At least this episode had other characters in it to help with the worldbuilding and plot explanation...But from the episode title of the next episode, it seems to be another episode fully dedicated to that stereotypical-isekai-male protagonist hero (LOL)... Spider Lives Matter Too! (<- Disclaimer: this is a parody, not meant to be any political statement or making fun of any movement that has similar wording in the real world) Give our cute little spider more screentime!

Interesting world building episode.

So even after the first encounter, Kumoko still managed to save Sophia's life from the elves and other bandits.

I am not really interested in politics and religion most of the time, but I love how this religion was portrayed here. With a Divine Beast shaped as a spider, so the nearby village now thinks that Kumoko is said Divine Beast. That massive line at the end was hilarious.

Still waiting for Kumoko vs Ariel, every time I see the OP, it makes me want it sooner.

This episode was so messy.

It can seem cohesive if you boil the scenes down to what their purposes are, but there were no transitions between them. Each scene ends (often abruptly) and then we are thrown into a new scene that has very little connection to the previous one.

There needs to be a more logical flow between scenes instead of a scattershot that has us constantly jumping from different places, people, and time periods.

This was an amazing episode and this is how you do human side world building, or any other world building not including the main title's protagonist the Spider girl Kumoko. Excluding Shitstain's filler part.

Seeing Kumoko actually interact with humans directly (2 sick people) and indirectly (killing the bandits and singlehandedly destroying crime around the town, as referenced by the town's lord) was a welcome site. Post credit scene shows how popular she has gotten too :D.

The different factions considering her as part of Ariel's brood and at the same time Kumoko seeing Ariel as a relative with a rather "deadly" relationship with her, is certainly a dynamic that I haven't seen before in anime. Not even counting the reincarnation side that the faction leaders are aware of.

This is probably the first ep since the sorcerer's recollection of their journey into the labyrinth, where Kumoko was barely in the episode and I watched almost the entire ep. And the town, the lords family including the butler, the elves and the followers of the words were all interesting and a breath of fresh air from the all encompassing Shitstain episodes or 1/2 episodes.

Can't wait to see how the factions respond to Kumoko's actions in this episode, plus whether Ariel will react differently seeing what Kumoko is doing here.

nice episode, people are showing kumeko the respect she deserves lol. If she could speak or use telepathy a lot of misunderstandings could be avoided in the future.

Also need some help with clarification. This is the second time she saved Sophia. But Sophia's flashback was of the time she was first saved by kumeko. Will they show the second time later or is not important to the overall story?

I ask because John (Sophia's father) says he was shocked a spider saved him (on the second time) even though kumeko saved him before
Just very confused with the order of things.
