I love how all the other parties are so serious and focused on passing the test, and Frieren's just enjoying herself.

I wonder if anyone has "magic to summon a mimic" to fight against clone Frieren lol

I love the fact that we get some focus on Fern's psychology in this chapter. Fern and Frieren are so precious!!

Kind of curious that it was Fern's first time seeing/knowing about Frieren getting stuck in a mimic, but this part was so cute and funny.

Frieren clone looks so cool and intimidating. Indeed a mimic might be the best shot at defeating her.

I wonder if this clone of Frieren is really gonna be as strong as the real one cause we all know how freaking op she is.

A huge amount of NOPE in the end.

Or Denken is going to have his OP time, or either he is finished.

Btw, like always, the mangaka have an AMAZING ability to remove emotions from characters in any kind of situation where people usually have them.

I'm sure that Frieren is going to have an anime, and this will be an obvious thing to mock the series if the Studio keep the same art and (lack of) expressions of the characters. Will the manga fans be butthurt?

You are obviously free to dislike any part of the manga but you sure are persistent with your complaints. But the thing is the most enjoyable aspects of the series stem from the facial expressions and the mangaka's ability to depict very subtle variations which is quite impactful for most readers. Deadpan comedy, wistful moments, sad moments, cute moments and poetic moments are all done beautifully thanks to the mangaka's way of drawing faces and emotions.

Also, not one of the moments you have shown so far to "mock" the series needs very expressive faces. These characters don't seem to have very expressive personalities to begin with and they have some experience and confidence in their abilities so they don't lose their calm. Maybe they would be more expressive in other manga but I don't believe it is less realistic to be honest, it's quite the opposite actually. People don't show "obvious" emotions that often in real life. So if you don't enjoy this part of the manga I wonder what makes you enjoy the read.

Oh yes, the manga diehard fans will be butthurt, as we can see.

"real people dont show obvious emotions" LOL

The person was caught by surprise (and that is why was caught), even so, the most INEXPRESSIVE face.

The user above never watched any live action movie before, and dont know real people to begin with.

It would not be a problem if the mangaka was depicting subtle emotions and expressions. But this is not the case. Half of the characters are literally emotionless.

Also, the mangaka KNOWS how to draw expressions, but for some reason is choosing on PURPOSE to avoid with lots of characters. And there is no plot point about this.

I call it lazyness.

Since when respectfully disagreeing with someone is considered being butthurt though ? I never said you could not be critical and share your thoughts. I was only remarking unusual and repeated negativity that felt a bit forced.

Also when quoting someone it's better not to change or truncate half the sentence to make it lose a lot of meaning, this is called dishonesty.

So you call lazy the work of a person you don't know based solely on your assumptions of what they should do and what you feel when experiencing the art ? That seems a bit arrogant to me.

"So if you don't enjoy this part of the manga I wonder what makes you enjoy the read."

It sounds like there is nothing more about the series, and ilustrates how diehard fans can't deal with criticism even from other appreciators, like myself.

The very only weird feature of this manga: part of the characters being awkwardly emotionless should be the main reason to enjoy this:
- original plot for a fantasy
- with slice of life
- and touching messages about life purpose and happiness in many chapters?

Now that is a weird thing to assume.

I was simply meeting your negativity with a bit of respectful sarcasm. Because the way you kept going with this seemed a bit like it was a pain for you to get through these chapters.

I just wanted to let you know that the very feature you phrased repeatedly as a negative fact was actually something liked by some people. Subjectivity is a thing you know. And no, stop calling me a diehard fan or butthurt over nothing, I didn't insult you or anything and if I really don't love something about it I will be the first to be crticical and disapointed. It's a bit weird to try and prevent people from responding to criticism this way.

But let's agree to disagree and let's stop here, this is going nowhere and it is not the place to do this. Anyway I am sorry if you felt attacked, there was no ill intent from me. You can dislike or like any part of the manga.

Enjoyment first and foremost, and then comes the exam for Frieren. Though of course it isn't the case for any other party, and one of them is already doomed.

Oh wow, anime adaptation (of this chapter, of course) did an AMAZING job adding more details during fights.

I'm curious why Lange (little girl saved by golem) decided to participate in this exam?
Obviously she has to be at least 5th class mage, but she's too young + gets frightened easily it seems and is likely weak?
All we saw of her (in anime only) use basic defensive magic, still get tossed despite blocking an incoming shot and that's it, she has no spells to even attempt to save herself and is forced to use the bottle.
If I were to make a WILD guess, she has some magic that needs certain environment/element, like Kanne who can't do much without water.
Thought manga would give more info but apparently it's the opposite! Anime had more info.

Glorious chapter! I must say that the manga has done a poor job of endearing Laufen to me because she was absolutely an amazing supporting character in the anime. I'm shocked by how many of my favorite scenes with her were anime original. Lange was snubbed hard as well.
