What kind of music is used in Noir?

I am watching Noir, actually, I am rewatching the anime and the one thing is that when I had first watched the anime, I was struck by the music, as it seemed to be familiar to me, but I couldn't remember where, until my mother had heard the music and it too sounded familiar as well, only she hadn't seen the anime.

The thing is that the only connection that we have, is my mother had taken music appreciation classes and she had to listen to certain types of music and I helped with her lesson, maybe one of the records, yes records, (this was during the early 1970s) that we had to listen to.

I am thinking, some, sort of, classic music, but I can't think of anything else right now, maybe somebody else can help me, thanks.

It is thank to Noir anime that I discovered my all time favorite composer/artist : Yuki Kajiura, she and what she can create is really unique.
No genre can describe her work, but Wikipedia says it’s Classical/New Age/Pop

The music of Noir is written my Kajiura Yuki? Well, I just know that ALI PROJECT sings the opening song of the anime, and for me, it's enough reason to give it a try.

dunno why but i literally have trouble watching this because the Music is just too distracting,
its too loud and heavy, and its not even due to it being bad, i actually like the music, but it literally drowns out everything else, it doesn't feel like anime music at all, usually video game ost music and anime music are done in a certain way to keep your attention on the action, but I have such a hard time watching this anime because its just too distracting.
am i the only one who thinks so?

Every show with Yuki Kajiura in it is bound to enrich my playlist with a dozen of new tracks. Noir was no different, absolutely adore it.

I'm probably too late to write here -.-U
I love Yuki Kajiura and her music. I love Kalafina too, one of my favourite JP interpreters, for sure.
Besides it, and, of course, ALI PROJECT being involved, I'm so immersed into its music that the slow pace of the show has gone to the background of my enjoyment criteria.
I've watched Pandora Hearts some years ago and this show brought me back to those days in which I felt this joy for its amazing music. Kajiura-san was also involved there.
