- Nice to see more interaction between Ye Xiu and Chen Guo this season. Last season was mostly Ye Xiu playing with everybody but her, so it’s nice to see her in the spotlight some more, especially since she’s significantly more subdued after the OVAs.
- The pro chat group was great. Loved seeing some of the players from some mid-tier teams showing up, specifically getting our first proper look at Chu Yunxiu after she was briefly mentioned at the end of season 1.
- The characters they chose to give special introductions to confuses me, the Tyranny duo, Swoksaar, Vaccaria, Cloud Piercer, they all make sense. Doubtful Demon, not so much. Fang Rui doesn’t even get to show up in the opening. Meanwhile, Xiao Shiqin (guy in the glasses on the team with a girl from the OP) is featured on the opening, but his character, Life Extinguisher, gets no introduction even though we see him interacting with the other important players. Weird. Also, Doubtful Demon got way too cool and unique of a design that it really caught me off guard, lol.
- The Huang Shaotian/Loulan Slash and Huang Shaotian/Ye Xiu fights were fun. The first time I saw the episode, I was kinda lukewarm on them; but having rewatched it, I’m starting to appreciate a lot of the smaller moments, particularly Huang Shaotian’s special dodges against each of his opponents.
- What really bugged me about the fights, though, was the audience. It was awkward how they recycled some of the generic background character designs for the pro players. Doubly so when we see those designs in the arena seconds after other characters with those same designs were marvelling at Huang Shaotian and the others showing up in the game. Another thing that I found annoying was the inconsistent placement of some of the more notable players. Fang Rui, specifically, would sometimes jump from sitting by himself in one shot to being in the middle of the group of important players in the next. Not sure why they didn’t just have all of the spectators sitting on their own and do split-screens for when they communicate with each other; would’ve looked better and been easier to do.
- Something smart about the episode setup in TKA that I've always liked is how a lot of the subplots are an episode long, but instead of doing 1 episode for 1 subplot, they’ll have a subplot start in the middle of one episode and end at the beginning of the next. For example, in season 1, Huang Shaotian meets up with Ye Xiu in the second half of episode 6, but it gets concluded in episode 7. Normally, it helps to create an illusion of these subplots taking place over a longer period of time than they actually do. This time, however, the show benefits from being able to have a preview of the next episode without spoiling the ending of the fight (assuming they aren’t just going to end the fight with Shaotian just screaming out the name of an attack and that’s it). Speaking of which, super hyped for Deception, he’s a pretty big fan-favorite character.
Again, there were some noticeable issues with the audience, but I had tons of fun with pretty much everything else.
Yes indeed the 2 characters in the opening that have no introduction are probably gonna be introduced later, cause we're currently in a flashback. The beginning of s2 was a time skip, and now we're in a flashbakc, but it's actually continuous from the specials..confusing haha but hopefully I made sense. Anway: we''ll probably get an introduction later on.
As for doubtful demon, I would LOVE to see more of him indeed!! He looks so beautiful. Also they didn't use splitscreen for communication, because in glory, there is a real life voice system. So they have to be close to each other to be heard (or shout very loudly). Idk how the communicaiton between sword saint and Swoksaar happened tho. Someone translated but idk how.. o wait they're probablyin the same room outside of the game cause they're from Blue Rain haha. So one player (doutbful demon account?) could have gotten up and moved between them in real life or outside of the game haha, feels weird to say real life when they're still in an anime ..but idk for sure of course |
