Am I the only who thought throughout the anime that maybe Akira only felt that way towards the Manager simply because she lacked a father figure in her life? Disclaimer: I have not read the manga and so I have no idea if the manga tackles her family, but from what I can see, she seems to be fatherless.

Don't you think that her misattribution of longing for a father figure resulted into erroneously mislabeling her desire and calling it "romance"?

it's possible
i don't know

personally I would have certainly preferred that structure, tiers easier to accept a platonic urge for a father figure - but regardless I seriously respect the anime for what it is

Let me put your mind to rest.
SPOILER

They don't end up together but rather seperate to follow their own respective paths.
HOWEVER, The father figure statement is mostly false since they were potrayed in a more Lovers light, and both had feeelings for one another but just didn't decide to act on it

No, because in the live action movie (which is really good and Canon)

You know, in the manga
it depends on how u put "they stay together". Yes they still keep in touch. If u read the manga u will see that they both go back to their own places and inspire each other to persue their dreams. Akira leaves her job and starts making new records, kendou publishes his new book and yeah everything ends nicely.

yeah after they broke up they kinda have a friendship but that's why it in parts it sucks, bc to accomplish their dreams they "have to" broke up even knowing they're still both in love and probably knowing they could persue their dreams together...

I am actually not into age-gape romances and the fact that they don't end up as lovers is prolly why I ended up loving this anime more.

I don't think it was weird bc the story have good construction with their feelings, so isn't anything like hentai or anything like that, it's a thing that could really happens irl. But that doesn't mean the end was bad but I could take a more "happy route" with they accomplish their dreams together

Yeah ikr the story have a proper development in their relationship that make me want to ship them eventhough the age gap at first i see this anime it kinda disgust me a romance of a middle age man and highschool girllike are you kidding me but after i watch more my opinion change and now i rather had them be together
