And here i thought Alibaba was the most serious of the bunch... I guess noone is "safe" from goofiness in this anime lol. Also who would've known he speaks better Mandarin than Chen despite being a foreigner

The general?(right?) looks sick, he dismantled and subjugated those thugs in a jiffy, and did you see how he commanded those dogs? Its like he had the beast tamer skill to the max, like in RPG game lol.
Second time we see Catty(the way the subs call him) feel some deep respect towards someone else (first time was in the first episode towrads... emperor, i think?)

To be honest, when I watched the ed where Alibaba bumped his head on the door, I thought he did something wrong, which led to a tragic ending, although it was really a "tragic" ending. (*≧▽≦)

Nah, Alibaba mistook Wang Qi for an actual ghost and thought he was saying his surname was Liang. Plus, he speaks Mandarin with all the wrong tones. He's a big goofball (and also best boi). He does speak Mandarin better than Chen Shi in the sense that his speech is more standard and formal whereas Chen Shi's is a lot more dialectal and colloquial.

Yeah, most of the show centers around Li Bing's subordinates, so we don't see him engaging in formalities all that much. Aside from kowtowing to the guy conveying the empress's decree, he did give a fist-wrapping salute in episode 3 when he revealed himself to the other officials of the Dali court.
