| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- This was a good chapter. A blind man or zato as they call them, catches his ex-wife having sex with another man. He's angry and begins calling her a whore, but she tells him that it's none of his business what she does since they're divorced now. He tells her he had to divorce her to catch her infidelity. In Edo times, a man who catches his wife with another man and kills them is usually not punished for his crime, but they charged the blind man in this case and we're set to toss him overboard. He doesn't want to die, so he starts rampaging and starts killing the men on the boat with his chains that he managed to wriggle out from. He orders the boatman to take him to shore, where he holds himself up in a store with a woman and keeps her hostage and also rapes her. And why is that Koike had to write another character that drinks piss? Jeezus. Didn't think I'd ever see that again. After the police can't negotiate with him to come out, Yamada Asaemon strolls by and tells them all to be quiet. They wait until dark and get the blind man to think they've left. Yamada gets on the roof of the store and waits for the blind man to get into a position that Yamada can stab him through the wall. Pretty badass way to finish him. |

| He stabbed the blind man the exact same way he stabbed through the tatami with a blunt blade. I didn't catch that the first time I read this chap, I went back to it because it really stuck out to me how it begins with an execution carried out by someone other than Yamada. I guess they were going to tie the blind guy to that giant log to ensure he has no chance of survival. Brutal if actually carried out. |
