Yessss, as expected I really liked the first chapter.
I love the setting, the art and the characters. Not too impressed by those “evils”, they looks so plain and boring

It was cute when Fanfner said he was no guardian of a witch, but Manasfa’s guardian. Also the maid lol, I like her.
Those last pages were very effective with the right words. The whole “I’ll turn you back into a human” has some Kimetsu no Yaiba vibes, while the wall and stuff had Shingeki no Kyojin vibes.

Kinda want to see how this journey turns out to be.

This gave me some SnK vibes at first and the main guy is a guardian, kinda like a soldier of humanity.

The part about the witches has my interest somewhat. Also getting some slight Claymore vibes from this. Idk, maybe this might have some potential? We'll have to see.

Getting heavy Attack on Titan vibes because of the setting and the mc's backstory. The art is quite good so far, interesting art style. I really like the designs of the EVILS.

The pacing throughout the first chapter was great, it did a great job at conveying everything it needed to and it finished at the perfect point, I want to see what happens next. You could say that it was maybe a little bit rushed, but it was worth it, since the story and the action start right away instead of dragging the intro for too long, it's not like the city would have had much else to offer, since it was already a very barebones generic fantasy type of location.

I'm not a fan of this recent trend where almost every new jump manga seemingly has a girl and guy duo, but this one might just work out, both of the characters are likable enough and I can see myself following their adventure.

And lol, the end twist is quite literally the same premise as Kimetsu no Yaiba, I guess they want to make this the successor to the series now that it's closer to ending. Maybe this strategy could work considering just how much the manga has blown up in Japan.

The good thing is, this series already has a damn clear cut goal of what it wants to be. Way too many recent Jump manga have no focus and their is no obvious objective, if the mangaka can't figure out what the manga is supposed to be, then neither will the readers.

This could work, but it needs to do more to differentiate itself from other fantasy adventure series. If all this has up its sleeve is AOT and KNY inspiration so it can grab readers in the first chapter, then things won't go well in the near future.

I also got some Soukyuu no Ariadne vibes out of it.

When it comes to new manga, Jump has been very underwhelming after Chainsaw Man, so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Wow a post apocalyptic story, definitely my thing. Thou this was a heavy first chapter. I already feel bad for Manasfa, poor girl was being used and when the time came she was about to get disposed too. But thnx to Fafner she now has a chance to become a normal girl again.

I really liked this start and ofc both of the main characters. That maid girl seems like a nice girl too.

Like the others said feels like Attack on Titan with the guardians and walls and the turning her back into a human from Demon Slayer. So it doesnt really have much orginal ideas but at least the art seems nice and the fantasy medievil setting. I hope he hasnt to guard her all the time like in Zipman and she can fight on her own when she gets her powers under control. The only potential I could see is her infected with evil body that she could turn in differnt monster forms like Naruto did that would be cool to see and where this seeds of evil come from and how they are produced. I guess he was right that he has to kill other witches when the state uses them to punish his betrayal. Maybe you could become a witch even as a guy when you indentify yourself as a woman before the injection, hopefully we see a tranny witch someday.

Seems fine. SnK vibes were strong. I hope this will not be really generic shounen, the characters were not interesting enough yet to carry the series.

Decent. One of the stronger first chapters of all the new series, but the next chapters will be what makes or breaks it.

It's never easy to be accepted as a new succes series in the Jump. Here, we are facing a first chapter very decent but it takes no risk. The universe, the caracterisation, the themes ... nothing is original.

What bothers me is that we are presented with an umpteenth universe of heroic fantasy, always using the lexical field and the codes that we have already seen 1000 times : the concept of witch for exemple.

Even if it does not follow the same path as Black Clover, I am afraid that the Jump will get lost a little with this series.

The only thing i have hope for, it's the possibility that heroes will fight against witches while they maintain order. Let it be felt that it is not only a battle of good against evil, but rather a battle of points of view and beliefs and that the latter are expressed intelligently. But i haven't hope for this ...

The art reminds me of Ookubo's work, especially Fire Force. The setting feels like a blend of attack on titan as well.

While pretty much every aspect of this story seems to been done somewhere else, it is repackaged enough to feel unique.

The main concern I have is on where this story will actually go. This first chapter had an interesting twist, but it was disappointing it had to happen so soon. I think it would have been more interesting if this twist occurred after an establishing arc where we get a better sense of the world. It's still not clear where this story will actually go, but this first chapter has me hopeful that it will be good.

It was ok. It feels way too much like a mix of Shingeki no Kyojin and Kimetsu no Yaiba, let's hope it can become more of its own thing in the next chapters.

The art was ok too, neither great or bad. I dont like the design of the witch, with that ugly mark on the cheek. I guess that making her look ugly was the point, but still.

Loved the fighting style of Fafner, using the sheet of the blade, is simple yet original and unique. And i liked the maid, for some reason, glad to see that she's a regular character

As of now, it looks kinda generic. Although I feel like it might have the potential to fill the gap that Fairy Tail has opened after its ending. It gives me huge SnK vibes with some inspirations from the Witcher books. Drawings are pretty decent and the art style is pleasant to look at. When it comes to characters it's too early to judge, cause they might develop over time, but as of now, they fell pretty generic and boring (plain average). Overall I don't expect this title to be more than just average Nakama shounen.

But I liked it anyway :D

This first chapter is pretty generic but I think this is a story I can enjoy, so I'll read it as long as I like it.
