That legendary tool...this Leon fellow is pretty interesting.

I guess he would be known as a prodigy with his skills.

Lei is one bad ass mf for cutting a buffalo without spilling blood, who the fuck does that? His training must've been super tough for real.

His challenge for the legendary utensils against Mao is pretty interesting, I liked how he was able to make those fine cuts on the fish and finish the meal in time. The guy is truly amazing, I wonder how will Mao handle him, who also was astonished by his skills BTW?

The bendy knife was funny though, what could it be its use though?

People do change, and that what happens to Lei. His experience in the underworld made him like that...

And Mao does even know his technique... and also uses one of those underworld techniques... ohh is Mao also one of them.. ohh lets see the next episode to know all the answer

I've tried watching more but having love the original 90s series, it's just makes me sad seeing how they're just cutting and compressing the story. So much information, character development, and lovely cooking is lost in this revamping of the anime. I'm sure, or would hope, they will do flashbacks to tell early foundation story but to me it's been a very painful to try and watch. At least when they did HxH revamp they started at the beginning... I was hoping they'd do the same here.

Puberty hit Lei En hard. He went from bishounen to Jojo.

Leon/Lei En looked more rough and badass in the original version though. He kinda looks like a beautified version in this 2019 remake. Like those beautification modes on smartphone cameras.+

I wonder what Leon ate to grow up like that in just four years. lol Poor Meili though, she was so happy to see him again, and well, it was like that. Shell also got the short end of the stick this time, having his staff stolen, being punched, and all. But I like how he helped Mao to fight by making that knife he needed.

HAHA yea wow, it's like they didn't care for aesthetics, instead, just turned everything generic.

Leon's back after his long years of chef training, but it becomes clear to Mao and the other chefs that it was the Underworld who cooked his life upside down. And it's apparent that every chef who has went in there and came out sure are fanatics for the wrong reasons.

It's for this reason that Zhou Yu asks Leon to face Mao in the battle for chef supremacy a.k.a knowing your place. To the average layman, a chef's skills is unmatched and the know-it-all, but their actual intentions are quite different.

To see Mao also being underhanded isn't so much of a surprise knowing the 90s version and all. Like to see this continuation.

Leon finally shows up! Poor Meili getting slapped away though.

This anime adaption is being a lot more serious than the original anime which focused more on charm. I was hoping to see the part reanimated where Shiro throws Shell’s travel money into his fire pit to get the fish cooking, lol.

Damn even in this version Leon seems to have aged like 10+ years. I see that Mei should follow more her own advice from previous episode on putting more trust into Mao.

I'm really unsure when this became about rescuing dreams to death defying challenges but... hey it's exciting. Curious as hell about all of this
