Ayon said: can i watch this not knowing anything about gundam series? It's a prequel to first Mobile Suit Gundam and is meant for people who have already seen Universal Century shows. I'd say you should see Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, ZZ and Char's Counterattack first before watching this. Maybe first Gundam at the very least. I personally haven't seen many people regard it as their favourite but it is pretty damn good, and if you ask me deserves the score it has. |

Theres a reason why this has a much better score than the rest of the franchise. the only people who will tell you the opposite are the extreme mecha fans and the MSG fanbase, and I disagree with them. |

I just want to check out anything about Gundam and this one is short and have good score. but other gundam series are old, long, and im not biggest mecha fan, would probably died watching those |
| I've never seen any other Gundham (and at this point don't intend to), and I am enjoying it just fine without any knowledge of the series. I am just about to start the sixth one. This is really good. Even as a stand-alone, if one so chooses (which I do), IMO. |
| I recommend watching Gundam 00 https://myanimelist.net/anime/2581/Mobile_Suit_Gundam_00 It is so good, and it is not related to any other gundam at all. But yes you can still enjoy The Origin even without knowing other gundam. But there is some connections to other ones. |
| This works pretty well as an introduction to the appeal of Gundam if the MSG I-III trilogy is too dated for you. As long as it's standalone or isn't a sequel, nearly any Gundam series could work as a first (Namely OVAs like Thunderbolt, War in the Pocket etc or standalones like Iron-Blooded Orphans). |
