Hmm, I see the classic rainbow thing even in this series. I almost got more of the impression of cute girls doing cute things from this so far.

A new set of female cast with different personalities.

It’s notably a bit less boring, but yea, not exactly good by any means.

At least more worth watching than DAL III

Am I crazy or did this episode have a very abrupt ending? Not sure how I feel about that.

I'm talking about the traditional adoration of all-female anime with disinterest in all-male. Well, you're straight male, am I right?

ah well yea, i mean, the majority of anime fans are straight guys, especially the ones that spends lots of money on merchandise... so it only makes sense that most anime focus on cute/hot girls

Not exactly, but you are in the right direction. This is one of the reasons why I smile when they tell me that the yuri subtext is a fanservice, and not a reference to “qeer audience” in 80% of cases.

wait what? you mean like a ratio?

also i doubt the anime community is much different from the gaming one, with most people with tons of merchandise buying guys

Yeap. The current position of the Japanese market is that work for guys is considered the default direction, while work for girls is a separate area. There used to be a time when shoujo animes like Sailor Moon or Maria-sama Mitteru could be financially successful solely due to the popularity of their target audience, but now you can hardly make financially successful anime for girls if it is not able to attract guys.

This is one of the reasons why initially female franchises like Eupho (damn, most guys are not even able to understand Takeda's motives), or Marie Okada’s shoujo-ish works, are officially gender neutral.

Another reason is that we live in a patriarchal society, therefore, it is much easier for you to attract a variety of people to male content than to female. Think for yourself, what is more likely - a male character from the all-male franchise that will attract a lot of guys, or a female character from the all-female franchise that will attract girls? Not to mention that girls can easily get involved in yuri shiping, but the guys will only be scared by yaoi shiping.

As a bonus, you can also remember how many girls write male manga and LN, and how many guys are willing to work for the shoujo and josei audience. Especially josei, which is considered the most feminist genre in the industry and requires a good understanding of female life.

we...

we... don't live in a patriarchal society...

i agree with and have also said in threads before how girls are more likely to watch something aimed at guys that vise versa... with the exceptions being the shows full of girls like Sailor Moon... thats definitely a factor

@EcchiGodMamsterP From the point of view that our society focuses on men, yes, we live. But this does not mean that the world is ruled by a secret conspiracy of men, lol.

In any case, I want to say that in the modern industry work for women is considered a “special niche”, while the average work is likely to be focused on men. To such an extent that even yuri, initially a female genre about lesbian relationships or "eternal friendship" between women, gradually becomes male and mostly oriented towards heterosexual men.

that doesn't make it patriarchal.. that just means men are more into these things and even then, how true is that?

again.. more men watch anime and more men watch MORE anime as well as buy more, so ofc thats the case

No, anime has a fairly steady interest from men. Since we are the main audience, most of the projects are focused on men in one way or another.

@EcchiGodMamsterP Most of the industry is focused on the man as the average viewer, this is nothing new or surprising. Of course, people can fool themselves that if the set of CGDCT shows has female MC, then they are gender neutral, but in 90% such protagonists are chosen for heterosexual guys.

I never denied it. I just said that otherwise it would be difficult for you to make a successful anime. Idolmaster SideM, however, managed to break the system.
