It was funny to go back and see pre-espoir Kaiji after all this time(being currently caught up with part 6). This is the same Kaiji who sucks at gambling and vandalized cars to take out his depression and jealousy. He did that at the start of part 1 and at the start of part 2(manga only). Kaiji outside of the gamble is truly human trash and I think Kaiji at his lowest like in these moments very well may take credit cards like he did here! It is once he is in the flow of the gamble and feels like he is living that he becomes as heroic as he is. ^_^ I imagine we missed a whole lot of this in between part 1 and 2!

6/10, it was simple, but funny, and a great look at Kaiji's life when he's not in the major gambles. ;)

It's not bad but it doesn't do anything the main serie doesn't do better.

Kaiji you truly shine more when you're betting your ass. Fun, but kind of pointless parallel story, maybe if it was more than a one-shot, there was some of the strategic aspect with Kaiji figuring out that the whole thing was set-up, but it ends abruptly.
