| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Pretty serious topic at hand in this week's Pingu episode. Penguin on Penguin crime. Clearly, the episode is meant to be used as a metaphor depicting daily hardships that minority races & ethnicities face still today in modern America. Pingu is falsely accused of theft just because he is the same color (the blue paint depicts African Americans in the metaphor) as the actual thief. The only thing this is missing is that instead of a happy ending, they should have depicted the unarmed (blue paint aka African American) Pingu be ruthlessly slaughtered by the police in a hail of bullets after reaching for his cell phone or Skittles. Not sure how anyone could infer a different viewpoint after seeing this tragic episode. If you have a different viewpoint than what I have noted above, you're clearly wrong and/or probably insane. That is all. |

| More of a general commentary on how shitty the police force is, though a bit dramatized. They've got one cop working, her only weapon is a whistle, and she confuses the suspect with someone with an entirely different height, facial structure, vocal tone, and uh, not carrying a purse. Also, when they caught the dude at the end...did she even arrest him? She just like snatched the purse and was like "Don't do that again" lmao |

| Pretty intense episode this week, I very much like the direction this show has been getting, more real-world perspectives, I wish we could have seen what would the robber face after doing all of this? I guess it's so messed up they didn't want to spoil our innocent minds. I mean, it's not like we could count to 10 yet, right? I really like the approach of not showing any preview to the next week's episode, I guess it has become a tradition in Pingu it's almost part of the “experience”. |
