By far the best thing about Koi Kaze is the lovely, simple feel to it, combined with the realism. Can someone recommend me a similar anime? All anime in the recommended section for Koi Kaze only relates to it in terms of plot, not the atmosphere/feel to it.

Late response, but as a Koi Kaze enthusiast I can't let this go unanswered.

Agree wholeheartedly that it adds a grounded and beautiful simplicity to it. Something that is in many ways a small story in scope has these huge dramatic stakes, but during it, we're able to live and breathe in the everyday interactions which makes it feel a lot more real and personal, between their simple home life and the interactions with Koshiro's co-workers and Nanoka-s friends/classmates. They could arguably do many stories that have nothing to do with sibling love and include the charm and free time of daily living; 1,000 or a million different windows into unique lives with the pace appropriately slowed.

So some of this obviously comes from the art style of the original mangaka and the show creators, those who did the OST, etc., but I believe a big part of it stems from genre. Look for other Slice of Life shows. A lot of people seem to think KK is solely defined by being a romance and a drama, but I feel the Slice of Life component also contributes a lot to the feel of the show, which you laid out.

Slice of Life is a gem of a genre, but I'll admit that most I've seen don't have anything approaching the emotional gravity of something like Koi Kaze, but little does. They might be more mixed with fantastical elements or a more straight-laced romance that is occasionally played for comedy. So SoL + romcoms or just pure comedic. The closest I've felt I've seen is something like Usagi Drop, because it showcases an unusual family situation (unplanned childcare by an ad hoc adoptive parent versus brother + sister passion) and people contemplating if they're making the right choices in the way they're living with themselves and each other, while still including many moments of daily chores and relaxed downtime.

I recommend Usagi Drop. The anime is about an older brother and younger sister, but with a different approach. It is about personal growth and does not have romance or incest. Although I've heard that there is an incestuous romance development in the manga.

They're not siblings. In the anime series at least (I believe there might have been more details surrounding this issue and facts which come to light later in the manga, but leaving that aside), the girl is Daikichi's (the man who takes her in and takes care of her) grandfather's child. A child his grandfather had later in his life with a younger woman. So she would be more like a cousin to Daikichi.

You are right, I completely forgot that.
Also, I think they have more like a father and daughter vibe.

I'd say Tsuki ga Kirei is pretty realistic, especially for anime standards. It's a simple love story about two middle-school students. If you expect the drama from Koi Kaze, you'll probably be disappointed though since Tsuki ga Kirei doesn't really have any.

Rec is another "simple feel" anime imo. It's a romance anime on the surface, but it also deals with the hardships you go through when you try to achieve your dreams and when you try to balance out your work life with your private life.

Last but not least, Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora is pretty good, too. Like Koi Kaze, it deals with a "heavy" topic, but in a different way. Some parts of that anime may be a bit over-the-top but I think that the general story and the message it sends is very real and powerful.
