| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Quite honestly... this blew my mind. Ok, so Okitegami wasn't asleep when Yaku wiped her clean, Sanaga didn't commit suicide and Yaku is apparently becoming a writer... Oh, and Kyouko wants to see Yaku naked. I think everyone expected that Yaku would end up working for Kyouko's agency by the end, so I am quite shocked that it didn't happen that way. Who knows what might happen after this volume, but Yaku and Kyouko aren't officially working together, even if Yaku will inevitably call her again of how much trouble he gets in. Yaku pulling off "the perfect crime" was tense, which makes it all the more surprising when Kyouko still solves the case and reveals that she was awake for the entire thing. Ok, so I think the biggest mystery of the series will not only be "Who is Okitegami Kyouko?", but "Who made Okitegami Kyouko?". I think there's 99% chance that Kyouko is Hanekawa from Monogatari, but even setting that aside, the question remains that someone is behind Kyouko as she is today. I also have a feeling the person behind her new self could also be her previous self, but the fact that it apparently isn't in Kyouko's handwriting and she doesn't know her name from before she got daily amnesia (at least), gives me reason to be suspicious of something else going on. First of all, if it wasn't in Kyouko's handwriting, then it probably wasn't Kyouko who wrote it. That sounds obvious, but since handwriting is a form of muscle memory, even if it was written by her past self (Hanekawa?) they should have the same handwriting. That said, it could also be the fact that it was written with paint on a ceiling that it looks different from her standard handwriting, but who knows? Secondly, she doesn't know her name from before she got amnesia. I am bringing this up because what she does remember seems a little weird. Like someone is going through her memory files and deleting specific information they don't want her to know. I mean, it does seem like she has some memories, especially considering how she knows Sunaga, but she doesn't even remember her own name. That's weird. Someone or something is definitely manipulating her memories. If this IS Hanekawa then perhaps it does have something to do with aberrations, but I have a feeling if NisiOisiN just added aberrations in out of nowhere, it would be a dead giveaway. Other things: Yaku is doing writing as a hobby now. I like how NisiOisiN said in his after how 'he couldn't have written this without also writing Monogatari and Densetsu'. I can't tell if this guy is carefully wording as to not give anything away, being reckless with his wording and giving a lot away, or straight-up trolling us in every direction. I guess he also talks about memories :/ Though we are left with more questions given that there are answers to, the first volume is now wrapped up and it was a really fantastic ride. I hope that there are more translations for this in the future, so please, show your support to Yuraikun, so he knows that his work wasn't a waste of time. Show your support for the official release when it comes out in English, or if you want to go out of your way to buy it in Japanese (I don't have that kind of money). Until next time! |
