Welp, it's official. Midosuji really is the creepiest character from this franchise.

I did like how they built this episode though with the mind games. For what's worth, they made me really feel invested into this race for the upcoming episode. May the best team win!

I love how the seeds of doubt have been planted in Kaburagi. The only people who truly understands how strong Oonada are the ones who rode the Inter High last year. This new guy from Hakone who never rode a stage is making assumptions of Oonada based on looks and the fact Hakone is supposed to be strong. You can never truly experience how strong a rider Oonada is until you see him truly race. Kaburagi hasn't seen him going full go in some form of competition.

Can't wait for Oonada to put the doubters in their place and that includes his team Kaburagi. This course was made for climbers, if I remembered correctly. So this will be Oonada chance to show why he's number one.

This episode was great and already has an introduction to Interhigh. I feel, but this season is really worrying me out. I know Yowapeda works with this kind of intimidating abordage but I feel like the future of Sohoku as champions is more uncertain than before.

It's certain that I still don't known the newest members of Hakone very well and that the biggest obstacle of Midousuji's team is his own egocentrism but Sohoku have been really working the fear against me.

Increase, the underestimate about Onoda also still the same... no news, so of course I hope he can prove again that is kick ass but it will be very hard though.

Kaburagi actually believed Doubashi, I know that he is new to the team, but he can't just believe the words of the enemy.

Why must you doubt so much Kaburagi?! As a viewer, this is upsetting because I've seen what Onoda's capable of! Last Interhigh, Onoda passed like 100 cyclists when he fell behind his team, save Tadoroko from falling behind the team with the power of Hime, and barely won 1st place against Manami and Midosuji! Sadly, Kaburagi did not see all this, so I'm hoping "something" happens that shows Kaburagi that Onoda is strong( in his own way) and Mr.Kaibutsu was just messing with his head and needs to pay!

Good episode, Inter-High is finally here.

Sohoku deserves more recognition for having come first. Onoda got #1 eh? Well deserved. :)

Naruko and Midousuji's little confrontation was nice, always a pleasure to see Midousuji and his deformed antics. XD

Can't believe Kaburagi believed Doubashi's words and was actually intimidated by him. In fact, it's Doubashi the one who is spewing random crap through his own truth filter and assumptions based on Onoda's physique.

Loved the introduction of Sohoku on the stage. :)
Can any manga readers tell me if the Inter-High will end this season or extend to the next one?

Doubashi wasn't even there last year, why must he make Kaburagi doubt Onoda so much? :L

It should continue on with the Inter-high as it's at the same place as the scanlations so far, but the actual manga chapters are on the 3rd day of this Inter-High already (at volume 50 I believe), but don't take my word for it.

Looking forwards to the next episode! :)

Couldn't ask for a better introduction to this season's main event.
Still curious about Hakone's sixth rider.
Naruko x best boy was fun.

Also, that bathroom confrontation took EPIC proportions.

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the interhigh is already here! It's been a year since the end of the second season already? It crept up fast, even though it is 16 episodes in. Just didn't feel like that long. Didn't feel like any build up leading to the day of the interhigh, like a few of the Hakone academy members haven't even been introduced. Their team looks so much stronger.

I'm giving it a zero percent chance Sohoku wins this year.
It's so weird that they made Midosuji physically larger in his scene to exert pressure, that's the first time I've seen that. I'd like him to win more than Hakone.

Also interesting approach he's taking with Issa, that's going to be a huge mental hurdle to overcome

I think they're overdoing the Midousuji effects a little too much. There's a fine balance between intimidating and unintentionally comical, and I feel like they're skirting that line.

Anyways, Kaburagi's doubts are annoying but also understandable. He's a first year and he's never participated in a race such as this. He's never raced against Hakone or some of the other strong teams. Though part of the blame is on the other team members. They haven't established a strong trust with Kaburagi. In comparison to how much guidance Kinjou gave to Imaizumi, Tadoroko to Naruko, and Makishima to Onoda, Kaburagi didn't really have that senpai that nurtured him.

I agree. I think making Kyoto Fushimi win would be the most interesting option. If Sohoku wins, they must win the 3 years. If Hakone wins, it makes Midousouji intimidating attitude and badassery worthless again.
Making Midousouji win would be really interesting, setting for a brutal final 3rd year confrontation.

Nice episode. I ship Onoda and Tachibana Aya more than a couple of a romantic comedy. Please!!

And talk about Onoda, he finally get that "Number" Tag. The single-Digit and also "The First" Digit.

I could have sworn Kaburagi raced with Onoda only a few episodes ago? Unless I'm mistaken? Didn't he see how strong he was up close?

Damn. Doubashi is a manipulative ass. I hate that guy already. All the same, I can't believe Kaburagi is letting him get in his mind, but it also shows how much of an ego Kaburagi has. Dude! You're the newcomer to the team and you're acting like you're the only strong one! Have faith in your damn team! They did win last year, after all. A fluke. Yeah, right...
They're still winners. That's what counts.

Anyway, looking forward to Onoda showing his stuff.

I was thinkibg that too - he found out what Onoda can do during the first training ride after the 1st years race. Kaburagi has the physical skills but hes the weak link on thw team mentally and emotionally.

I really wish they had spent more time with the other teams leading up to the race. We had a much better idea of who hakone and kyoto were character wise the first season. Who's the dark haired kyofushi rider in the tent when naruko was there, for instance.

Loved the way Terufumi stepped up to a real leadership role for the support team - he really does have experience to share and he clearly loves his team!

I'm hyped for this Interhigh, had the same great feeling like in season one. Seems like Kaburagi vs Doubashi is the first matchup. Let's see how his this will turnout, although I'm not a fan Doubashis pseudo mindgame.

I don't like how my Doubashi mess with my Kaburagi, it's understandable that Kaburagi is in doubt because that's what teenage mental is, unreasonable worrying. (He's a little bit 'hard' when they grap each other shirt in the toilet though)
But since my Doubashi has nice muscles with even better hair than Izumida, I'll forgive him.

For result my prediction (I don't read manga) is 1. Hakone 2. Kyoto
the third position may or may not be Sohoku
This is necessary step to ensure that Sohoku will be claiming the no. 1 position next year when Onoda is in third year. Since winning 3 straight years are too boring and lost the year when Onoda is in third year is too cruel, except that the story will follow Onoda to University (and I hope so!)

The next interhigh is about to start! @Utsunomiya - the Tochigi Interhigh Road Race!!!
LOL I ship Tachibana x Onoda!
LOL the bus of Hakone is times 2 the side of Sohoku's van! lolz!
The heck! Izumida got new hair style!
Onoda Sakamichi deserves the number #1 tag!
Naruko isn't provoked to Midousuji!
Kaburagi's talk with Doubashi was so long...it made Kaburagi doubt the capability of Onoda...this is psychologically and mentally not good for Kaburagi!
4/5.

"Is Onoda really strong?" dude there's only one #1 tag in the whole event. I get the feeling Sohoku will lose this year's interhigh and Kaburagi is gonna be one of the reasons why.

It's funny how Sohoku's lack of unity and team depth directly reflects the lack of substance in the build-up for this inter-high. So now, in order to foster some rivalry, we have Kabaragi further developed into the most superficial idiot of the whole series.

Disgusting.

Thank goodness Midosouji's here to save the day

"Quit sparkling; you've got some nerve!" Freaking cracked me up. XD

Onada was underestimated by nearly everyone until they were directly exposed to him, sometimes more than once, so Issa's doubts really aren't that far fetched, especially given the huge gap between Onada's presence and his ability.

It does feel rushed. And as someone else pointed out, there doesn't seem to be the lengthy team building especially from the third years.

I like Sugimoto's inspirational speech "We're seven Sohoku's member" that hyped everyone up, his brother definitely finds him cool. A little bit of teasing from MIki's friend, Onoda is definitely fun to tease.
Everyone's eyes are on Hakone they are still favorites. Manami has the most amount of fans (and all females what a surprise xD) I really liked that Toudou pose he imitated and we got to see Toudou for a bit :D Izumida looks cool. Ashikiba is chill as always and their last member is just sleeping in a mask :D
I really liked Teshima's quote "you need to win twice to be acknowledged" IF they win now everyone will remember them.

I really like that we got reminded of the significance of numbers. Onoda got number 1 because he won even though he is not an ace. Imaizumi seems a bit upset but he is fine if its Onoda. Naruko looks as proud as ever :D
I also liked announcer introducing last year winners. Onoda and Imaizumi got the most praising. Imaizumi from lots of girls and Naruko from mostly boys :D everyone hoping that he would be even flashier. Onoda is loved by everyone however and his shy personality boosts his popularity even more.

Midousouji is really creepy that saliva coming out lol and Naruko is not swayed by his creepiness at all, he is not taken aback at all. I like how other Kyouto's team member commented that even he is scared of him and he is his team member while Naruko is his opponent. That's really impressive. SO the race is on between the two of them huh. Everyone seem surprised that he is an allrounder now.

I liked Doubashi at first at how Tadokoro-like he looked (btw i really want a match between two of them and they both are sprinters) Looks like he has #5 number. NUmber 1 sprinter in Hakone that's impressive. Still think IZumida beats him, but Doubashi looks scary as hell even brakes cant handle his immense pressure. Looks like he believes that only strong ones will win and he considers his team and himself especially to be above anyone with how much they trained and especially how much he trained. he believes that at least. Looks like he is not a fun guy at all, he is way too agressive. Much more agressive than Arakita or Tadokoro. He is way too loud and always seem mad :D

Got really pissed at Issa this episode with how much he was debating if Onoda is a real deal or not. He got to the finish line and won yeaaaah i wonder if he's good enough :D and debating in his own team is the worst thing that can happen. And when he was questioning his decision to join that team since they might not be strong enough. LOl who do you think you are :D you got a spot as a first year as a regular dont be too cocky just be appreciative for what you got. And if you think your team is weak CARRY THEM. Fuck that guy.

Honestly there are way too many charcacters that i dont like this season as compared to last where i liked pretty much everyone from Hakone and Sohoku. I hate Kuroda (that fucker honestly xD) i hate Doubashi and now i hate Issa.

Lmao why is Issa even in the race when someone who has more experience and can offer more in Koda, who would've had only one chance compared to Issa's two, was more than capable? Now he's losing to Jedi mind-tricks and is obviously shaken up enough to definitely provide some early challenges during the race.

For fuck's sake Kaburagi, get a grip. We already went through this and you yourself raced Onoda and lost, what else do you need?!

This season just likes to punch dead meat. Repeating same drama over and over, Teshima racing some "powerful team mate" we never herd about like what? If you plan to introduce a challenger like that, at the very least make them flash here and there instead of "Oh yeh, you remember that dude?" What dude? He was never there!

I already had to deal with a dull character crippled by doubt in the first two seasons. I don't need to see it a second time, especially from a character as shallow and dull as Kaburagi.

It's all the more ridiculous that Kaburagi couldn't beat Onoda and he still has doubts. So, what, if you went to Hakone you would have been better off? What makes him think he would have made the team there? He is also forgetting that even completing the Interhigh is a challenge in itself, let alone being at the very front in order to do so. It's not a competition that your team can literally carry you through.

These last two seasons have been so dreadful in the character department. It all feels so stupid and artificial. An idiot that "steals stars" from people, another low confidence rider with no perspective, a hunk of meat that plays more of the psychological warfare game... If they went with the other guy who was with Kaburagi at least we would have gotten some really amusing interactions between him and Onoda. It's running into the same issue that all sports series go through. There's only so much you can do with a series about a very simple premise that has a bunch of fixed rules.

This series should have stopped at the end of the previous Interhigh. They needed to remove the bullshit starcaller from last season and allocate that episode to post-Interhigh cleanup.
