- Monogatari Series - Intimacy. Each arc in the series is told solely through the protagonist's point of view. The narrator's perception of the world is superimposed on the show's presentation. The narrator (sometimes truthful and sometimes unreliable) learns about other events only through conversation with others. Since protagonist and viewers learn information at the same time, this creates a heightened sense of intimacy and bias for the narrator. As a viewer, I felt keenly attuned to how the narrator was feeling (as I was often feeling a similar emotion during the viewing) through the course of most events.
In most show, there are usually multiple point of views; not just throughout the series, but on almost every episode. For example, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood would have episodes with Ed, Al, Mustang, or even an antagonist's point of view. This gives viewers are greater awareness of the situation. However, this distances us slightly from Ed or Al's (the main protagonists) point of view. It feels a little bit like we're watching from overhead or slightly off the side. In Monogatari, it feels like I'm seeing everything through narrower lens. It's less of a self-insert phenomenon, but more of a walk in their shoes feeling. The lack of information inversely increases the sense of intimacy.

Haven't really been a costume person, mostly because it's expensive and I only been on halloween trick or treats like 0 times in my life. Does seem like an interesting event, I think the only reason I know about it is because I've seen it in a film, a film I no longer remember the name of. On a similar topic, do you do cosplays?
I kind of gave up on Naruto, not really a big fan of loooong series at all. But I definitely liked it when I was a kid, I mean, who didn't really, ninjas were basically a trademark of Japanese culture for me as a kid.
Lol, I haven't heard the word anagram so long I forgot what it meant. I guess it is one. The man certainly had an interesting past, for sure. Although my past is definitely not as interesting or as dark.
My username is fairly simple. I made it when I was around 15 when I was playing a MMO, and I liked the name Itachi from Naruto, and decided to change the I to the end since Tachii seemed like a cuter name. It definitely is, and it stuck. Although as a guy I'm definitely not that interested in trying to be cute, but it is kinda cute as a pen pal handle, so that's cool.
I'm in Canada so the Netflix here lacks in comparison to US Netflix. I'm honestly not sure why we have a different selection, but it all comes down to $$$ I guess. I forgot about Crunchyroll, I'll use that I guess.
Never been to Europe myself either, don't really have any travel plans anytime soon since I just started working and have a looooot of debt that I mostly need to pay back to my parents. This year is mostly gonna be work work work, feel lost at work, and trying to find some new interests to keep me busy when I'm not working I guess.
What's the story behind your username?
I'm mostly fine with whatever. I'm too chill to find something like that rude, just a lil bit awkward.
Recently with Nyaa going down and torrents everywhere going down, I find I'm in a spot where I either need to find new hobbies or new places to get my anime/movie fix. Change is hard... RIP.
I was quite solitary for most of my (young) life and while I see that people do need their alone times, I think for me I had a bit too much of those and would rather, you know, people watch with someone, like how we make stories about the people we see and they can be quite entertaining stories.
Earlier this month I was at a mall with a friend, and it was kind of awkward since he was writing this note on a gift he's gonna give to someone, and I was just kinda chilling beside him and was looking at people instead. There's definitely a sort of serenity to it, like you're no longer the protagonist of your story, but a reader of other people's stories.

I kind of just want to hop in a cafe with these kind of music on and like, just bring a notebook or a book to write or read, but I don't even know if they exist here in Toronto haha.
I easily read over 80+ chapters yesterday... they definitely have enough material for a second season! Another one of the philosophical questions about whether or not to fondle someone's boobs. So gud.
Btw, interesting to see you have Prison School as a fav manga on your list lol I only saw the anime and if I read an ongoing manga I usually forget about it once I caught up to it so I try not to. The most memorable scene has gotta be the whole ass vs. boobs debate, maaaaan that's a timeless classic.
Edit: Damn I started reading it again, this series DEFINITELY NEEDS A SEASON 2. But it almost looks like hentai LOL.
I also don't watch seasonals til it's completed. I find my forgettable memory makes it hard for me to be invested in stuff I watch on a weekly basis.
Wow, Norwegian Wood seems like another melancholic story lol. I actually seen this film floating around, maybe I'll watch it (RIP the reviews has not been great for this film). I wonder if this melancholy reflective of Haruki's younger life?
Which book of his would you say you enjoyed the most of?
I'd probably be very curious if stuff like Murakami's novels can be translated into anime or some kinda visual medium?
Ooh, that sounds fantastic. Although I probably won't be reading melancholy stories anytime soon haha.
I take it you read both books, and is an avid reader?
These novels seem like there's a certain melancholy to them.
