So Happosai kicked Ranma into the cake, but he gets all the blame... makes sense.

OK, besides Happosai avoiding all the blame, he was at his best this episode. He apparently helped Soun and Genma stage the “play” and was searching along with Soun all night long. Not the highest bar to pass, but this might be the most productive and least annoying that little f***er has ever been.

It was all Happosai's fault. He did get a beating and also tried helping to find Akane to make up for it but the episode put too much emphasis on Ranma. Boy, Akane is one stubborn girl.

Ig the show's been airing for nearly 2 years at this point. (Ranma 1/2 episode 1 aired on April 15, 1989, and episode 87 on March 29, 1991) So this wasn't a bad special. Even tho in-universe they're both still 16 and stuck in the same grade. Kuno said in the last episode he's 17. He's been 17 for 2 years.

This episode had the potential to be great. And I mean great like Urusei Yatsura episodes 44 and 66 (After You've Gone and Ataru's Birthday). They had similar themes. But the shitty ending of this episode ruined it.

I hated this Episode. Hated hated hated hated hated this Episode. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it.

Akane being mad at Ranma is nothing new, but for her to run away over it is kinda wild, but the fact her cake was ruined which was for Genma and Ranma’s anniversary of the day they moved in makes it more understandable, although this wasn’t totally on Ranma but also Happosai lol, and speaking of Happosai this was the first time we’ve seen him in a bit and he was actually well behaved for the most part, even taking part in the search for Akane, who is this old man and what has he done with Happosai lol.

I also enjoyed the brief Ryoga fight, it actually gave me Indiana Jones vibes because they were fighting in a hazardous zone with construction workers and trains, the bit with Ranma freaking out over two trains coming was good lol. And I’m glad Ranma made up with Akane in the end, but damn you’re telling me no one saw her on the roof? I actually thought that the second Ranma ended up back at the dojo, and there she was lol, I feel like there could have been a better ending than this but it was still a fun episode. And in regards to someone above me comparing this to Urusei Yatsura episodes, I definitely have to agree, some absolutely golden episodes, this one did not hit as well despite being similar in the plot.

I watched this episode before, was sorted as the seventy-something, was really weird the order in that page, weird and bad that before watching a episode I had to check the official list.
Akane is mad at Ranma and there have been passed two years since Ranma arrived to the Tendo's house for the first time, and they are also eighteen, for some reason Ukyo wasnt around, if she was she and Ranma would become closer but disapeared for the good of the plot. Ranma vs Ryoga scene in the train tracks is one of the things I most remember from the first time and I wondered in which episode it occurs and I finally found it. Ukyo would never do things like that, the best girl.
