The life of a thief in this show is tough..

Pretty thrilling episode. I kinda like how this show exposes the dangers of being alone at night and how lethal the art of assassination can really be. Glad to see Hasegawa coming to recuse of that poor woman. That could of gotten really ugly.

Got the feeling that Hasegawa and Amano had more of a history than they let on or the flashbacks showed.

Hasegawa knew Omasa and decided to help her out even though she's a thief. Pretty sad her sister died. The action was great. Nice ending for Omasa.

This was a really good episode. Omasa is smart for cutting her wrist.

The action sequences in this show always seem to impress me. Heizou was totally awesome.

Nice episode.

Action was great, Felt really sad for Omasa when her sister died and when she was tortured. Our man Hasegawa sure showed those thieves who's boss.
It's sad that most of the thieves in the show have given up on the thief's code of honor. :(

I had a bad feeling that Omasa would die after the last episode but I'm glad it ended on a positive note with her becoming a spy.

There still isn't a main plot.

The same thing from previous episodes happens: person main character knew or thief with good heart (or both) gets in contact with Onihei; they get a clue somehow to the bandits' hideout/next operation (either the good guy bandit says because he already knew or because he seeks the answer after talking with police chief so they can frame the bad guys, or someone who got a visual clue tells sheriff); they capture them.

For an episodic anime this is quite formulaic in my opinion.

Anyway, amidst this there might be some sort of "drama", but it's too superficial since one episode for each story is just not enough to develop characters or make me care about them. I see no appeal from this series apart from the fight scenes and how the gore doesn't bother me like it usually does (same with RK: T&B), it actually looks good.

More thief not abiding by the code made me think there is a person or a group who is trying to get chaos started for his own benefits ($$$), the things is… it is one person, an organization, a corrupt official of the government or some foreigner who want a piece of the market (market as in the underground circle)?

I think the episode that we saw (episodic) are going to be connected to the story and maybe we will learn who is behind all of this sooner or later…

That scene made me grin like a little kid because it makes our MC more badass since it not only brings realism like you said but also that scene makes him more relatable to some of the viewers by giving him vulnerability (age & group of enemy)…

Wow. That escalated quickly, although it's not particularly unexpected as terrible as that may be.
I really liked Omasa so hopefully we see her pop up again in future episodes.
Hasegawa really is a sweet guy, taking all these rogues in and giving them jobs as spies.

I don't think that was her real sister. I think that girl belongs to the place that she had to sneak / infiltrate so that the rest of the thieves can enter easily to steal. They probably got close while she was there is my guess. Also, I presumed she would have reacted more if that was really her real sister in my opinion. The backstory didn't mention anything about her having a sister as well.

A pretty entertaining episode this week!

Except Champloo has a huge variety of episodes while in Onihei the same thing happens again and again. The underlying plot is also better than having no plot at all.

Didn't anyone noticed that the fight scene outside the house was completely copy/paste from episode 1?
I like the show in general, but some episodes are really bad.

This was a bit of a step down from the last episode to be honest. Hoping the next one would be a bit better. and also did Heizou's wife get jealous of Omasa? xD

Nice introduction of the female spy (she was mentionned in the old series synopsis). Of course, such a format can't deliver constantly episodes of the same interest.

The anime makers (or the audience's ?) need for action scenes is more damaging than appealing. It eats precious time and brings nothing that a shorter demo couldn't.

3/5 Now that Omasa was introduced, I hope that the rest of the series will be a "best-of" of the other stories.

You should not expect more than what you got until now.
It's a crime (well, robery here) drama with a case per week. Those shows, even when they are 45mn live action series don't pretend to make you "care" about characters, to develop them or even to follow a red thread. For this, you have to look at the US 2000+ trend where the only idea the creators had was to inflict the personal life of the agents on you.
I won't say that the animated adaptation's duration is good, 40mn would probably be better to treat a short story fairly (and even then...). The same problem than with Joker Games (who received the same misplaced critic here) who came up with a terrible compensation: having a character telling a synopsis of an ellipse (glad we still haven't this here). At best, we can only hope for a two eps case (maybe the finale).

The western believing that japanese animation is the kingdom of character development is so annoying. Who exactly started to teach this?! (someone who never ever read a book in all his life, no doubt about it)
Oh, and while I'm at it: the fact that fictions (in general) have among their goals to make their public "care for the characters" is a myth. Some will, some won't. It's nothing more than a rule imagined in those book clubs reunions of middle-aged readers.
Also, onee/oba-san works like onii/oji-san (check the Kuzu no Honkai 2 or 3 if needed). I wonder how this can be misinterpreted when it's not your first fiction heard in japanese. So many anime have scenes where a kid misslabels a young adult only to be "scolded" by the victim.

edit: oops, I forgot to summon @Wintovisky ,@Roy_Focker (3rd time, sorry) and maybe others too.

Omasa is a promising spy!
Heizou saved her from Genpachi! awesome katana samurai sword fights again!
According to MAL character info, she loves Heizou, i hope where would be more content on this one, eventhough Heizou is a middle aged married father, I want to see the relationship of these two.
5/5.

Heizou actions to save Omasa were epic. I still love how the fights are animated, it feels different of what I'm used to.
Good episode, it's nice to see an "happy" ending

Nothing new under the sun, since the appearance of the female figure, had long been announced, and that the chances of his role, were almost certain. Narratively it was similar to previous episodes, fast pace and reduced the plot almost to the bone. I felt a little shiver, only during the shadowing. I appreciate the sound principles that animate the protagonist and certain characters. The drawings are of sufficient quality, animations and especially the CG, are horrible.

The villains are comically evil. Who says "Good. Let's torture this woman to death." in casual conversation. I feel the show is pretty damn black and white honestly. It's Ideal Hero Hasegawa + partners vs murdering rapist thieves.

The mole is also basically entirely good since if they were a thief, they only did it to survive and they're entirely on Hasegawa's side. There's not enough time to show the character development either. BobSamurai oversold that positive point.

It's good for what it is but it's much too formulaic. We know the destination and how it gets there almost immediately.

I admit though I'm digging the setting and atmosphere. The formulaic structure also makes it an easy enjoyable viewing experience.

3/5.

Oh wow he said "the moon is beautiful" to her, but surely he meant it as friendly response to her oath of loyalty to him and not in a romantic way.
