THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Ah, Aina can have such words of wisdom especially for a guy like Takaki.

It's really too bad they lost Aston and Takaki is no doubt sad about that. I think he should look forward to the future though especially since he has family that supports him. Not much action this episode but I'm fine with it. The buildup for the current story focuses quite bit on Takaki so I have high expectation for him to make something good from all of this.

Holy shit, for a talk only episode that was pretty awesome.

- Makanai offers Kudelia to take his place, but she decides to return to Mars
- McGillis offers Orga to be in charge of Mars once McGillis himself becomes the head of Gjallarhorn, and Orga wants to agree
- Takaki quits because such an ambition is too much for him, and he doesn't want to make Fuka cry
- Needless to say, Teiwaz would not be happy if Tekkadan grew so big as to pose a threat of overthrowing Teiwaz itself
- Tekkadan withdraws from Earth
- DefinitelyNotGaelio mentions that Ein is "not far away"

The plot thickens even more, and I'm all for it, yay!

Really good episode, Even if it was mostly just build up.

Loved Kudelia advising Takaki, She's grown a lot from the girl she was last season.
Tekkadan for Soverign, Tekkadan for Kingship. xD

So Takaki quit, It was a respectable decision amd understandable why he did it.
Mika's words were a little harsh though. He did say he was relieved though. I suppose that was a very Mika esque way of saying 'Take Care'.

Lafter x Akhihiro might be going canon XD

This episode is quite developing into something interesting with each characters decisions and what will come to them to the future events that might happen.
McGillis/ Chocolate Man is still walking to the same path that he still believes that can make him achieve his goals which is be on the top of Gjallarhorn but he starts to use his chance now to Tekkadan and I kinda say, I both like and hate it. Yes, he has a clear and reasonable explanation as of why he did all those things from season 1 up until now, but I'm still not convinced on trusting him as an ally.

Takaki's decision is, for me, the best out of all especially If it would make her sister not be sad anymore. So much death will eventually not gain anything.

Kudelia's judgement on not accepting to stay on Earth is also a good one because leading means having an ample knowledge and experience in political aspects. I do hope she learns fast before Makanai well you know. . . felt like he has not much time to wait.

Gaelio is too obvious.

Orga is experiencing that time when a leader needs to decide and there are some consequences (good or bad) that will affect Tekkadan and the others. I hope he choose carefully and not be tempted by the position to be 'king of Mars'.

This episode is very interesting -.-

Really love Lafter's expression when Azee talked to her, she's really cute on that
Let's see whether their relationship grows more or not, I'm really curious for it

And Vidar also will make its full debut next episode, this is so interesting

Other than that, I liked the ep. Takaki did the right thing, tekkadan's future doesn't look so good.
I wonder where mcgillis' actually came from?

Best episode of the season. We get into the mindset of pretty much every character in the show and how they feel about things after Aston died.

Akihiro x Lafter, IT'S HAPPENING!

Takaki's resolve, it was brilliant, i love that he quit and stayed with his sister. No one else opposed to that which i thought was great.

Lafter x Akihiro just got real.

That said, this was a great wrap up episode for their first conflict this season.
Kudelia's decision to return to Mars after Makanai's offer showed a lot of growth and maturity, she's starting to understand her limitations and the path that she has to take to achieve what she sets her goal as.
Same with Takaki's decision to opt out from Tekkadan for his sister and the life that they've developed here on Earth. Choosing to leave the family who you grew up with and fought for is a difficult thing, especially when it's all you've ever known. It shows a lot of courage to say no to who was essentially your boss and big brother.

Tekkadan's decision to leave Earth seems a step back, but considering the losses that they'd endured and how their name's been tarnished by that bitch Radice, it's pretty much the only thing that they could do.

Not quite sure how I feel about McGilles offering Orga the reign of Mars, and that pained expression of Orga's at the end there talking with Mika was hard to read as well. He may say that he wants to be King of Mars, but I don't believe that's his ultimate goal.

Oh, and Ein is pretty much confirmed, and that dumb blonde is... well... pretty dumb XD

The Impression I got from it was that their departure was one of the conditions imposed by the Peace Treaty.
Entirely possible I'm wrong as they never did explicitly state why Tekkadan was leaving Earth.

as for Takaki thats good for him that he quit cause it would have sucked if he ended up dying and leaving her behind but now i wonder if he's gonna show up later on sometime but hopefully they can just live in peace

ohhh I really hope Takaki and Fuka will be allright. I just fear that after the amount of character developement Takaki got something will happen to them. He seems to important to be left behind on earth :/

They closed earth branch huh? Probably because they want to concentrate their forces on one target.

Which leads me to my main point. What makes this gundam special is the lack of a clear goal. Like in season 1 where they wanted to go to earth. Now it feels much more like a real story because they dont really know what to do. And they just wait to see what the next day brings.
Orga wants to become king of mars? Really? I thought he had a plan for tekkadan, but this is a bit weird. Takaki made the right decision.

Sad that Takaki is gonna leave but he prob won't die anymore which means his sister won't lose him. Knew Lafter had feelings for Akihiro despite being a wife to Naze! I really really hope she ends up with Akihiro and the ship sails but I feel like she or him will die nd the confession will be too late wit they're dying words.

That Lafter is confirmed to like Akihiro... the anime staff must have been looking at the Jap. forums while making this. Anything to get better ratings.

So tragic end confirmed? This whole "King of Mars" bit is bound to bite Orga in the end for being too ambitious. That is if the show wants to retain any sense of realism...

Nooo!! In true Gundam tradition, Akihiro now has an even more massive death flag on top of him now that we know Lafter does have a thing for him (at least I hope they get to consummate "it" before he goes).

Tekkadan getting too ambitious thinking about claiming Mars. Teiwaz will not like that. And you can bet that they're only a means to an end for McGillis.

One helluva perfect talk-only episode. So many feels, both high and low.

Kudelia, as always, was magnificent with her ability to verbally express sentiments and feelings.

Then Takaki finding his own limit and realising that one can be happy even when he doesn't have more than he could ever need and actually quitting.

I totally guessed Lafter had a thing for Akihiro way back but I thought the shipping part of my brain was acting up. Total surprise that Lafter acknowledged her feelings right away though. Ah but this is the only series that comes to mind that has an actual harem ending for one of the characters so perhaps it's somewhat trope-resistant. And I can't see how their relationship could begin... Akihiro is massively loyal to Orga who is in turn loyal to Naze so Akihiro would never trouble Orga by making a move on Naze's girls. Hell, I'm sure Tekkadan has an inviolable rule for that very purpose.

That conversation between Mika and Orga at the end though. That hit Orga so hard. Poor guy is trying his damnedest and here he is sitting next to his brother who's already sacrificed an arm and eye who then goes on to say "it's so far away." Damn, that cuts.

This was way more meaty of an episode than i expected, but man this episode is so making me reconsider what i was saying about mcgillis potentially not being the main antagonist, this whole set up is identical to how he was letting gaelio in on helping reshape ghallajorn, just like with ein turning into a mech mcgliis pushed what he wants onto tekkadan like hit was their decision. I have no doubt now that he has far more complicated plans than he letting on especially if tekkadan and teiwaz's relationship is going to hit a rough patch.

That said speculation aside, loved the ep especially with how it sent off takaki's character. Its better to end the character for now if not in general here. Also lafter wanting the discount guts dick was good to see finally confirmed though this spells out some concern for either of their mortality especially with a potential conflict with teiwaz looming.

i mean all the members of tekkadan always agree on orga's decisions without a second thought. there is nobody like biscuit whom will argue and share his thought, but at the same time share the same burden with orga.

just like mikazuki, i was relieved when takaki said he wants to quit. because there is still someone to remind orga that there will be consequences for his decisions.

what a build up episode so much going on glad takaki left after the war i always thought he wasn't fit for this life style hopefully he can live in peace

Orga shouldering way more than he can handle is sure to come into light once again later on

on the fence with that deal part of me thinks McGillis is still playing us like a fiddle and other half is that it's kinda betraying Naze and the family with having that much power with all the issues it could cause.

but still that Lafter scene doe :) was gonna be surprised from the start if not one of the girls grew attach to the Tekkadan boys through out the series

Correct me if I'm wrong but:
- Lafter is Naze wife
- Naze said that he rescued his wives from balefulness, that's why he have them so many
- So Lafter was rescued by Naze
- And she is going to betray him

She is so faithful to her husband.

Takaki is dead as shit. Feel the foreshadowing for a desperate return when needed only to pay with his life. Man this war sounds juicy. Hell, I almost wonder if they can finish everything in 2 seasons. They've got a lot to do. Lot of rich stuff to work with Orga being a bit overworked with no one else to lean on truly.

A development episode, as expected. I didn't love this one, but I guess these episodes do make the fast-paced ones, chock full of action, all the much better.

Good for Takaki. Aston's death clearly changed him, so I'm glad he and Fuka get that happy ending.

Damn, was that Gaelio's new mobile suit in the last shot of next episode's preview? It looks so sick! Really more of a classic Gundam look too, I think.

EDIT: The Akihiro x Lafter ship officially sails. Lafter was too adorable in that scene, let's hope it goes somewhere.

Ugh, Ein is still around? I guess it may be interesting to see him integrated in Gaelio's sweet mobile suit in some way, but I could definitely do without his return.

Takaki AKA "pretty boy" as I had called him from Day 1 has now thrown away his death flag permanently. I'm relieved that he's safe but I'm sad that he left. This seemed like a "What if?" scenario for if Biscuit had quit like he originally said he would. I think Mika's words were too harsh though. To me, it felt like a "You're leaving so you don't have the right to call us family" even though he didn't mean it that way.

That's the point of his character. Those little moments when he receives righteous feelings which he was never able to discern and understand, not even relay it correctly to others.

Eh, who knows, maybe they'll do the unconventional thing and actually let them live!

Well, Lafter developing a thing for Akihiro has been hinted ever since season one. The thing, though, is what HE thinks of her.
That will be interesting to see, as we haven't see him being particularly attracted to her, after all. I think Naze would be cool with it either way, too. He's a bro.

King of Mars? Hmm. I see this developing into Kudelia becoming Mar's leader, at the heroic sacrifice of Tekkadan.

With the talk between Orga and McGillis, I can feel that Orga is being manipulated more and more using the "power" as an end. Can totally see McGillis betraying them close to the end, as there will be a lot of power struggle between Tekkadan and Teiwaz if Tekkadan will rise to the top.

I feel sad that Takaki has quit, I was expecting him to be a character who will become an avenger, but I am guessing the one that will be closer to that is Chad.

I still can't wait to see the new Gundam frame they picked up from Mars from the last season.

Because they never had anything to begin with, they were the social outcasts you see everyday on streets pretending to be upright humans. Suddenly, both Orga and Mikazuki acquire a purpose and means to fulfil it, and bring glory and prosperity not only to themselves but to the silly bunch they call Tekkadan. Tekkadan is fine with it, since they had nothing and would have lived life miserably without ever seeing the blue of Earth and experiencing what does it feel to be treated as humans. Then suddenly Orga can achieve the ultimate goal and claim the whole Mars for the Tekkadan, which is madness, and make it a colony ruled by Tekkadan's fair hand. In the mean time some guy named Takaki who was there from the beginning ready to bet his everything on their insane crusade, realises that it will only keep getting worse and in the end of it there will be 10 people standing on the top of the world instead of the 100 they started it with. After losing Aston to his own foolishness he simply can not consider this to continue and gives to the secure and normal life with his sister who already has everything she could ever wish for. And further it goes more people are going to question whether "means justify the purpose", you already have Merribit, Takaki and Akihiro.
Hope it is understandable a little, why Tekkadan is the Tekkadan.

the thing im kind of expecting is that mcgillis is going to be tempting orga with power and turning orga isnt a shadow of his former self. Its a a while off but i sort of see this being the start of a divide between orga and mika that might potentially be brought out by fellow tekkadan members getting killed by orga brashly running in head first only thinking about self gain.

She may not of appeared in the past 3 episodes so its easy to forget how many death flags shes been throwing out this season, but i really think atra is going to die before the midway point of this season which might be the big one to really cause mika to think more independently about things, shes the only other person besides orga that mika has shown a notably closer relationship with, which basically puts her on the chopping block unfortunately. It doesnt help that the ED shows mika grabbing her with his dead arm

Tekkadan should be in control of Mars, so they can be influential. Takaki should just be an ordinary boy. Better for him that way. About time Azee said Lafter had a thing with "him". What about Azee herself? Does she have any love interest? She should have love interest. I wonder how Ride, Yamagi will react to Takaki quitting Tekkadan?

Finally, the mystery of the new masked man lies in another mystery; where the fuck Ein is this season.

The Prime Minister of Arbrau would let Chryse go but it'd be hell to declare all of Mars yours when your nation just made peace with one of the colony owners. There might be little conflict on Mars due to the nature of it but it will lead to an conflict on Earth again where Takaki and Fuka are supposed to live normal happily.
