After the last episode I'm seriously wondering if I should drop it. Do you think there will be any other plot than mahou shoujos being forced to fight among themselves, indirectly leading to real life deaths? Or will they oppose that psychopathic Monokuma-Kyuubey hybrid baloon? I knew it wasn't going to be all sunshine rainbows and kittens, but didn't expect a danganronpa x sao. Is there hope for those girls (and one boy) or is despair all that awaits them?

Well, perhaps this anime is trying to show a comparison between "the wonderful dream" of being a magical girl and "the dark side" of doing every single job.
I can't predict much to the plot, but I do believe survival is the only way for them.Yes,you may think that kind of plot is predictable, but the fact is the characters doesn't even know that. And that's the fun part of this anime.Youll be excited about how characters react next and I'd like to see more of that.
I'm gonna watch the rest of the anime, the story is interesting, why would I drop it?

Life is empty without anime

This isn't madoka nor SAO and anyone expecting the show to go those route will just NOT find what he's waiting for.
Also it was confirmed month ago that this will just be the first arc (so a one cour) of the story, which means that you'll only get the battle royale in the anime, nothing afterwards (or maybe a single episode for the extra chapter, I hope they do that~)
I hope this answers your question.

Well, if you put it this way... I'm not enjoying it. Actually, I don't feel anything. Very little of the characters' emotions is shown. They are pretty robotic. Almost every other anime I've seen that featured such a grim revelation had a much better reaction to it. Here, they are almost stoic when Fav said half of them are gonna be dead in what... 8 weeks?
So yeah, my enjoyment is quite low.

You mean it won't even have a meaningful conclusion? Sigh... I guess it's a drop then. Fortunately there are many other good mahou shoujo anime this season. I'll stick to FliFla, Izetta and Soushin Shoujo Matoi.

There is one thing I really do not understand. When Mayoiga was issued, everyone wanted them to be dying, but it was not and people were disappointed.
Now comes an anime in life are played, people reject it, human, human logic of shit.

Thank you.

I mean the synopsis for Mayoiga literally made it sound like they were going to die, it didn't do that and felt very baity. Imo the show had like 2 really good episodes. So I can KIND of understand that.

That said, I'm liking MahouIku, I passed up on it early on because I thought it'd be Madoka 2.0, but I like the route it's taking.

The literal same shit is going on with Drifters though, people complaining about the comedy bits like they didn't exist in Hellsing.

This is why the world is shit --- humans produce less logic than secretions into the toilet.

If by meaningful you mean a happy "and they lived happily ever after" conclusion, then you're out of luck.
When an anime adapt a manga series or a novel series, it's very RARE that the anime goes to the end anyway. Either they do an unsatisfying gecko ending, or -for most- they simply stop somewhere. Especially for novels.
The first arc of Mahoiku is but a prologue to a far longer story, that set things in motion by the end of it.

question, when did the event in the prologue scene where the murder kinda went too fast happen in the original source?

and as off EP3, where are we at the LN?

so far i''m liking this series, everybody is classy & has a good motive to kill each other, though it'd be greater if i can know who they really are 1st

totally need souta perspective, so far he is the best character i've seen in mahou shoujo anime, compared to nanoha anyway

@tehhead
By that (for the first scene) do you mean "when in the volumes" or "when in the timeline". I don't remember if that scene was originally part of the first volume (but if it is, it should be near the end of it), or in the 4th volume with other short stories.
If it's about the timeline, then I'll simply say that I've seen a lot of hypothesis about this scenes from aniem watchers, some very inventive, but that none actually managed to pinpoint what happened, and not that much understood when in the timeline this is happening, either.

For where we are at the end of episode 3, I don't know, but it's less than 100 pages in the first book, that's for sure.

when in the volume
100 pages of 180/210 page book? as of EP3

if there is action heavy content, this anime can cover 3 book at most

i'm liking this series so far

less than 100 pages of a 300 ish pages book.
Also it was already said months ago that this anime will only cover the first volume (with mixing -as they're already doing- part of the volume 4 short stories at the appropriate moments).

Some scenes in the first book are action heavy, yes.

I'm watching the 3 series, Flifla, Izetta and Mahou Ikusei and all I can say is that I prefer this one, Izzeta's characters are boring and Flifla is very random.
At the end, maybe you'd appreciate more Flifla if you don't like this one, I think.

It's definitely more DieJoubu than daijoubu indeed.
