THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Not as good as the previous one but still fairly good. It's obvious they tried to complete the story within planned running time, so there is a bit of rushing and few plot-holes.

I wouldn't mind seeing continuation (which there is none, unfortunately).

With this setting and characters, it could have been pretty cool. But, there was too much of a focus on the spectacle of violence, which didn't seem to mesh with the feeling of the other stuff of the franchise. Not to mention the plot was way too ambitious for 2 episodes.

a decent watch if you have time to waste and is into 80s-90s. one thing i liked about this was the MEER, pretty horrifying knowing that a killing machine entered your space ship and you've no idea where it is.

Re-watched: Going through all of Gall Force again, and I really don't agree much with my first post in this thread. Other than it feeling rushed at the end, like there could have been one more episode before they headed off to a potentially peaceful future, there were a lot of great ideas here. I thought the character designs for these iterations of the girls were very nice too.

So humanity is still confined to the solar system but there's a spaceship capable of reaching lightspeed. Why not.

i wonder if this was meant to be longer, it feels kind of sad to bid farewell to the gall force franchise after such a tragic event, humanity gets wipe out and the few remaining survivors flee to another galaxy, also, how are they going to reproduce if only woman are present in the ship?, its incredible to think how many IP some anime companies own, how many they produced in their golden age and seeing most of them coming to an end, i wonder if the people that worked in this one knew this was the last gall force, or at least, the last gall force with new plot elements, anyway, farewell gall force, you werent the best anime ever but to me you were wonderfull.

Well not sure what the point of this story was. Nothing happened. The "heroes" did jack all to stop the villain. All they did was panic on the escape pod, fool around trying to radio for help, and then Catty just saved them and did everything for them remotely. Hard to root for the main cast when they're essentially irrelevant to the story. All it did was feel like this was the teaser trailer to a much longer series that I assume never got made.

I get that a big theme of gall force is that history runs in circles, but man oh man, this really made everything that happened in the Earth Chapter look beyond meaningless.

Humanity fell way too fast and we didnt spend nowhere near as much time in this future setting with the new cast to make it look that impactful.
