Where to start... oh, I know, Satan Jacob? That's Maou's real name? Jacob? That's.... surprisingly fitting. Uh...

Anyway, TV! TV! Man did I laughed, I love when the series focus on this kind of triviality about our world. And that date was quite nice, it really is a change of pace when characters know how to read situations. I wonder if Alciel knows about Rika's feelings, maybe... though maybe he's playing the dumb guy just to avoid hurting her feelings, since I don't see him in a relationship right now.

And I'm really loving that the autor is giving some time to show that Urushiara isn't just a worthless neet. He really was on point on this volume, I wonder when that ship with Suzuno will sail... hopefully soon.

But the biggest plot of this volume, Chio (pun not intended). Well, technically it would be Laila and Emi, but... So, Emi's father is alive (and probably in Japan), Emi's mother is the nurse and she's kinda protecting Heart? Which is somewhat related to everything else? And Angels and Humans are the same? Does that mean that Emi's father might be human and not Ente Islan? And all that stage that Gabriel said.I didn't quite got if Raeguel is the Observer or not.

Finally, I liked to see some of the characters thoughts changing specially Suzuno after that conversation with Rika about using God's name to murder people. And Suzuno's obsession with udon noodles.

Revealing that Emi's father is alive was pretty much a necessity at this point in the story if the author wanted to continue the growing camaraderie between Emi and Maou. Their relationship is the central point of the story. Having her slowly fall in love with her father's killer, while certainly interesting, would be a bit too dark for this series. Either way, I enjoyed this volume. We get to see the almost lackadaisical attitude of the angels, Risa's reactions, and Chiho finally taking charge in more ways than one.

Lucifer's back story seems to be pretty vital and it's nice to see Maou's full acknowledgement of Emi as top dog, power-wise, between the two of them. One thing that bother's me is Emi's mortality. Is she also damn near immortal due to her angelic blood or does she still share the lifespan of a human? It's a very minor gripe, but I always pondered something similar in Yu Yu Hakusho when it came to Keiko.

Bring on volumes 6-16+, Yen Press. I tried reading some fan translations, but they were pretty rough.

Finally got around t finishing this and I'm rather surprised. So much stuff revealed at once - Emi's father is alive, Angels aren't what everyone neccessarily thinks they are, Lucifer being more serious is a bit surprising and Rika falling for Alciel was hilarious. The part with Chi and Laila was also...interesting, funny that the crew probably bumped into Laila at the hospital.

And then there is Emi slowly going from annoying to adorable.

Now I really want to read Vol.6, wonder whether the new fragment will also be transforming into something like Alas Ramus.
