THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Good action this episode, very colorful and stylistic with the choreography. Emilia got some spotlight and we got some divine transformation scenes.
Timonthy impressed me this episode like it did in the manga as well.

The absorption skill is scary...but glad to see it being adapted.

I'm surprised they changed the nuns character.
Jk. They just left one nun out.

Aside from that, glad this arc is over. Onto the next one, which is better. Timothy ability is pretty cool and come real handy. I kinda liked road's new look lol.

Pretty solid episode. Forgot how sad Timothy's departure from the orphanage was

We saw a bit of, erm, nevermind. I guess I can't say much about Allen without spoiling, though all/most of us should know who that was if we're paying attention to the story or reading the manga.

Good episode again, Action was great.

Timothy's innocence activation was awesome, That ability of his should come in real handy once he becomes capable of taking over level 3 and higher.
That crow guy used quite an interesting weapon to defeat that level 3.

Allen seems to have overlooked the presence of the Noah inside him, I'm assuming that's why Crown Clown harmed him.

Glad to see Timothy and Emilia join the order, Pretty sweet scene at the end with Timothy and the Nun.

Timothy's ability is very cool! Isn't he like one of the strongest exorcists now? I mean, he used his ability for the first time and defeated level 2 akuma...

Also,

Glad that I can barely remember the manga because it makes this show a little more interesting for me cause I'm not 100% sure what's going to happen anymore. That scene with Allen and the Level 4 tho!

Anyways, I thought this was a great episode. The fight scenes were animated beautifully. The artwork and color was great compared to last week where we had a couple derpy faces and poor quality in some scenes. I didn't notice any this episode and I hope I don't see any when I re-watch this episode to look out for them (and making gifs) The transformation animation looked amazing too and as always, I adore the soundtrack for the nostalgia.

The next two arcs are going to be awesome. Glad that they ended this brief story with Timothy quickly because that leaves a lot of room for the actual story that is coming. It gives me hope that they won't rush through it too fast or cut parts out.

4/5.

Terrible and disappointing.

Animation is still lazy filled with still frames and animated lips like a '60s cartoon adapted from a comic book.

The "action" scenes backgrounds were hardly animated with fill in, felt more like a DBZ powerup than actual fights.

Personally I can't feel any empathy with this phantom thief kid or that police officer (was he in the last episode LOL) as they have only been in it 5 seconds and been unpleasant, too early to give them a sob story.

This show is kinda on par with Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, a too late rehash of former greatness.

IS this real, Show?
Are you joking, Show?

The pacing is still as expected breakneck. AT least the worst arc is done with now. Albeit I can't really enjoy the show because the animation quality is completely borked and action scenes look like shit. The color saturation is VERY distracting in the episode - it completely ruined the "Good Morning" moment, for example.

It was a decent episode and nice way to end the arc despite the super rushed pacing. The part where Allen stabbed himself with Crown Clown and felt pain, then turned into the 14th for a moment was super chilling. Props to Allen's VA (If it was still the same one) for pulling that scene off. Looking forward to Kanda's arc :D

And that way, the Phantom Thief G arc is ended after two episodes. Kinda rushed, but the fight against the Akumas was entertaining. Timothy's Inocence is really cool and useful. Cannot help but think that if he improves his ability and manages to posseses Akumas of higher Levels, he would be a great ally to the Black Order.

The moment when the 14th takes Allen was really well done. Poor Level 4 get fucked hard. Madarao's debut was more impressive in the manga if I remember well.

The art could have been better, but, well, at least we will get to the good stuff soon. Cannot wait for the appearence of the Noah Family.

Decent episode. Am glad they did it in 2 episodes. It was to the point, gave us enough informations and didn't feel rushed, unless u read the manga and want it to be 1:1 with the manga.

Animation still meh. I don't mind the simplistic art style sometimes to showcase a funny scene(for example the one example used in this forum before mine comment. We see alot of these in animes). The amount of frames during the action scenes however is below average and very distracting to me. Quiet odd people don't complain about the framerate, instead of nitpicking certain moments in a scene.

Overall, I rate this 3/5

Pacing: 4/5
Art: 3/5
Animation: 2.5/5
Sound/Music: 3/5(still hasn't wow'ed me).

Was that Murase doing the 14th?? If not who was it? Cause that was hype. Also, good job getting through the arc with focus in all the right places. That ending with Link. Don't even care about the wonky animation, I certainly didn't fall in love with the first series because of its animation quality.

Wait, okay, I have a question. When we get a glimpse of Road and Tyki with the Earl, where tf are their stigmata? I was under the assumption that the Noah had 'white' forms and 'black' forms, which Tyki has discussed. And in the old anime at least, both Road and Tyki's 'white' forms were quite pale. Their darker Noah forms always showed ash-colored dark skin and stigmata, but in this ep we see them with warmer dark skin and no stigmata. Now, I'm not against giving the Noah's 'white'/human forms a darker complexion (with no stigmata since they're in their human forms), especially given the horrendous white-washing of Noise Marie (that would be a way to attempt to make up for it I guess?)...But just. I'm confused by the inconsistencies here.

I see no cast for "Nea" or "the 14th", so it was Murase

On Marie, no he hasn't. Hoshino did a color scan of him white. But in other works of him, she's had him darker. She's not consistent. Like how Allen's scar went from purple to red in her work. Or Lenalee's hair being purple or blue, at one point, rather than green.

So Hoshino has done colored art of him and given him a darker complexion.

Like this.

And this is a recent scan. He's not exactly dark. But he's definitely not as pale as in the anime.

I don't think it's a huge deal. But it's sparked controversy on tumblr.

It would not be a huge deal but we already have precedent of racist whitewashing with Casca in this season's Berserk. So it is kind of big deal.

Because Casca was actually dark skinned in the manga. For DGM's Marie, he is white in b&w pages and it's hard to tell from Hoshino's inconsistent color pages

This episode was pretty nice imo. Nea is such a badass. I kinda wish he'd just take over Allen' body. :/ Well, at least for a while. Allen could have been well animated when he got a control over his body. The manga stills, made that scene look soo much better. I'm a anime only fan so idk what's to come on the next episode. Guessing it's gonna lean towards Kanda. Anyways, this episode was pretty neat. On to the next one! \(*^*)z

Which is why it would not be a big deal without Casca case already existing and making people sensitive to it.

Are you watching HorribleSubs? If so, that's not FUNi's fault. It's the uploaders fault due to them using a "Color fix" through their encoding option. Funi has recently fixed their bad problems. Due to HS doing this, it messes with frames along with misdecimation

Not everyone watches off the torrents that have bad framerate due to the uploader itself, so not everyone will have the "Frame" problem.

She is a cannon character, but explaining who she is basically spoils the next arc. But that picture of her in the outro is lifted right off of a manga panel.

On another note, I thought this episode was pretty good (but you have to be Berserk 2016 bad to get me really upset about stuff unless they "ruin" a character). And I'm SO NOT READY for the stuff that's coming up.

Tumblr just loves that sort of controversy and to blow things out of proportion, it's practically its way of life. I personally see no problem either way, but for me the closer to the original manga character design and Hoshino's intent, the better, and the new anime seems to make it a point to be closer to Hoshino's present style, so I'm not complaining about that.

Animation is bad. I wanted to see dynamic and smooth fight with lvl 4, and I got awkward crown clown movements. A pity. I really like phantom G arc in manga, strongly thanks to that fight sequence.

On the bright side voice acting in this episode impressed me. I was even thinking that it's a pity they have such a good voices for poor artstyle. Let's hope they will improve with time.

I always thought that Bookman was South Asian or Middle Eastern or some other race with darker olive skin. Isn't he canonically 'mixed race'?

Anyway, I definitely agree that tumblr blows things out of proportion, and I also agree that Hoshino's intent is paramount and I definitely see the new anime making strides towards that. I just also think that that includes not automatically assuming that a character is white simply because the author hasn't expressly stated a character's race (but I suppose you could say the reverse just as easily).

My original stigmata question still stands though - is the absence of stigmata not present in the manga either? Is this just a random oversight/mistake that no one really knows or cares about? Cause the presence of stigmata for a Noah seems extremely important.
