The July 2016 issue of Heros magazine, which goes on sale on June 1, has announced an anime adaptation of the manga Atom: The Beginning.

The series acts as a prequel to Osamu Tezuka's Tetsuwan Atom and is drawn by Tetsuroh Kasahara. The story of Atom: The Beginning is based on original plans by Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor mangaka Masami Yuuki and is supervised by Tezuka's son, Makoto Tezuka. The series has been publishing since the January 2015 issue of Heros, and the third compiled volume will go on sale on June 3.

Nice, since it looked like the manga wasn't gonna get scans any time soon. Need to pick up the original Astro Boy though.

Great idea from an Headgear member. I am interested in this manga now! I suppose it will show a very young Tenma and young Ochanomizu during their early years of robotics in parallel? (or woud they happen to work together in this rewrite?)

@zetsu_shoren You might want to read Pluto (from Urasawa).

Curious. Never was a big fan of Astro Boys but I might look into this a bit more.

This makes me wish for Naoki Urasawa's "Pluto" to get anime adaptation even more :/

The true definitive Astroboy edge.
