Aside from "Take the X train", it's the only anime I recall that used comic-like sound-effects written on screen. Other than that and some decent fight animation in space, a remarkably average movie. I wonder if Arale's way of ending sentences came from Lum? Toriyama's popularity remains a mystery to me. |
Really quite an epic adventure they got here. Definitely feels the definitive "Dr. Slump movie" with high stakes. It almost feels like our main cast is playing characters, which is an idea I wished they leaned more into. Would have preferred the film to have more gags and jokes, as the runtime does drag a bit the way it is now. The art was great and I really liked the space setting. The end fight against the giant robot was amazing, loved the sound effects appearing as text. |
