Really, I can recall few tsundere characters that appealed to me that much. Maybe because her attitude is more than tsundere, it is violent but straightforward, and she actually attempts to take a step forward every time the male lead seems to give a reason for this, plunging through her own shyness and denial with determination. Phrases like "Not like I really care about you" are surprisingly rare - she CARES and isn't afraid to show it... if through wrestling moves most of the time. But I can't help thinking that such a girl suits Akihisa just perfectly. Heh, if you're a natural baka, a girl who will always be by your side, not hesitating to knock sense into you and loving you and a full set of your drawbacks... how often do you get a match like that?
Also, her appearance and animation. That "baka" stance in the first season was, as my friend put it, "nigh Stanislavsky school". All the cute expressions she makes are enough to want to hug her, while all the menacing expressions of hers look deliciously mischievous. And her hair which looks great both loose and in a ponytail. And that overly expressive ribbon. And, by the usual tradition of anime drawing, the pettanko issue seems to be a bother just for those in-universe, including herself - in fact, she has a harmoniously built figure, even a Mizuki level bust would probably look weird on her. Oh, Minami, look in the mirror and note the slightly accentuated cleavage line through any clothes - and remember that many anime pettankos out there would kill for just THAT. XDDDDD |
