The OVA is 60 straight minutes of story per episode, so the TV edit is going to be much more partitioned. And the ED in OVA is always different and blends perfectly with the atmosphere of the episode. It looks like the TV version is really going to be just a re-run to fill the time slot and in my opinion the OVA offers the perfect viewing experience.

Unless they censor the TV version, won't it actually be the definite experience when it's done? It will have a couple new scenes and mechs, plus they are redrawing a lot for it. Kind of like going form TV version to BD, except reverse this time.

I wonder how much they're really redrawing and what kind of padding they'll add for the additional 50 minutes. Maybe it'll be worth checking out when it's complete. It's just that Unicorn has some incredibly long dialogues and slow scenes, interchanging with intense action segments so I can't imagine that 20 minute format will be a better edit than the 1 hour format which the show was originally made for. The only part that could use some improvement I think is towards the ending, but who knows, maybe they actually have someone talented on board that can do a good TV edit.

For people who watched both, can you tell me if the TV remove any scene that was on the OVA ?! Or is it exactly the same.

The OVA was incredible, and is shorter than the tv series is going to be, so unless you're really crunched for time, I see no reason not to watch it first and then see how the tv series measures up afterwards.

My hope for the tv series is that they'll fix what I felt like were pacing problems in the fourth film/episode of the OVA. It felt like their time on earth was just a transition back into space, at which point the story quickly entered its final stretch. We're introduced to a bunch of new characters who we don't really get to know outside of the battle that they're promptly killed off in, and as well-executed as I feel those scenes were on their own, I would have liked for them to have taken more time to build an emotionally investing context for them ahead of time. My opinion is that the content of movie/episode 4 should have been spread out across two movies/episodes, bringing the total episode count up to 8. Had they done that, I might have felt like more of a journey had taken place before the story began moving obviously towards its conclusion, which I thought was fantastic on its own, but in context, seemed too sudden for what was billed as the climax of the Universal Century, in which all previous plotlines find their resolution.

I'd also like for them to explain

If they give me that and can also somehow manage to avoid messing up the flow of the story while expanding it into a two cour tv series and dividing it into 24 minute episodes, I'll be a happy camper.
