That ending was the only one possible after Kilico rejected Akira in the last chapter, and saw a hallucination of her family. Anyways, it's one of the best seinen I've ever read, and would have made for one of the greatest HK gangster films of all time. So many great characters, and a crazy, violent, and sensational story. |
| I'm sure some HK films share plot elements in this story very closely anyway. John Woo's early filmography touches on all the bases nicely, especially Bullet In The Head and A Better Tomorrow. I finally watched Ringo Lam's Full Contact recently which was awesomely good fun with a crazy gay Simon Yam. I think this manga got the 'hardboiled crime' feeling down perfectly and I would place it on a shelf beside the likes of Sanctuary without a doubt. |
