I mean she's related to the Magata family, right? How could she possibly not notice that Magata Miki was not a real person? It was revealed that she knew Shiki personally yet she didn"t find it weird when her supposed sister just appeared out of nowhere?

That can really be a plot hole.
I can't remember this scene very well, but maybe Miki is a real person, but she simply wasn't there. That visit was a lie and part of the plan. As Miki and the aunt have probably only met once or twice, and as the aunt hasn't seen Shiki during the last 15 years, she wouldn't be able to recognize both.

The most plausible answer is that the sister really exists but never went to the island

I just finished binging this.

The aunt was well aware of what was happening even if she didnt know how.

She didnt seems to be so affected either by her husbands death either so maybe she was mindfucked by the knowledge of what was happening too...

sorry to frankenthread.

if anyone really is still wondering about this, the source material states that there IS a real magata miki, and she is indeed shiki's sister. they call overseas to check with her, and she has no idea that any of this is going on - shiki is impersonating, and not inventing.

a detail woefully skipped in the anime portrayal that created this plothole.
