That was a pretty touching episode and a sad but also somewhat nice conclusion to Jerome. I wouldn't say he redeemed himself, but it was nice to see Remi come to terms with his 'father'.
And now their next goal is england. I have to say I'm pretty excited about that, looking forward to them crossing the ocean. I always love sea travel so it should be fun.
I just hope everyone gets a happy end at this point, both Remi and Mattia.
I probably regret this post by now.

Man, it does feel like the series is already coming to a closure... seeing Jerome dying made me sad a little bit, guy was a douchebag sure... but he was a true fighter until the very end. I'm happy that Remi accompanied him in his time of dying, he could not have a better ending than that.

From Paris to England, who would have thought that Remi would travels this far ?

It's so rare that a show makes you feel sad about characters like Jerome. Normally you wouldn't care at all about him, but here you still see him as a tragic character. The anime made his death much better than the novel

"Your sight, my delight. Will you marry me?"

I think a lesson has been learned here, do not go to Paris... people always die in Paris.

So a sad and unfortunate human being met a sad and unfortunate fate. Good riddance, I say. Even if he were a decent, kind human being before he went lame with the tragic accident he suffered while working, it doesn't make him excusable at all.

From the moment he picked Remi up he already had intentions of profiting from it. He then proceeds to sell him to a perfect stranger, and then he tries again to profit from his biological parents. He was consumed by greed, he just didn't have any talent or elaborate schemes besides profiting by playing with the fate of a poor kid as much as he could.

Remi never saw him as a father because he never acted as one and I hated that the innkeeper tried to guilt trip Remi into forgiving him or something, and even Mattia told him to call him "father", but I can understand it, he didn't want Remi to regret it later, but I hope Jerome felt as guilty and as ashamed as possible when Remi gave him kindness in the end.

Being the great kids they are, they were really empathetic and suffered for him, the man was on his deathbed after all, so it was only natural to show some compassion. They had to go through another unpleasant experience, but Jerome went to sleep and he can no longer hurt or take advantage of anyone.
