After all those years, this series is revived. There's a load of chapters to adapt so I expect at least a 2 cour (with some obviously cuts). Good thing is that MAPPA is adapting this. I guess this is the "old series" they planned to adapt since there were talks about the studio to adapt a manga from over a decade ago.

Anyways, looking forward to it. The premise has potential. And it's also scheduled for Summer so expect a PV to be released soon. I hope they get a decent cast for this but I also wonder what MAPPA plans to adapt in the future as well. They have this show and Spring's Punchline for lineup this year. Also not much info on Voln yet as it seems to be a relatively new studio.

Now, this is nice. I heard a few good things about the manga but for now I enjoy the fact that MAPPA is adapting an old action manga with a promising staff.

Also, this:

Seems like an interesting choice of manga to adapt - perhaps someone's pet project? I hope it turns out well.

Yeah, I don't see this going anywhere worthwhile, it'll probably be 1 cour and end before anything really happens. Not much faith in MAPPA.

Does this series have something like a live-adaptation or manga re-release? Seems like an odd choice.

Started with Hunter X Hunter (2011), followed up with Berserk movies. Then JoJo rocks it again and again followed up by Kiseijuu. Arslan Senki might follow it up and now this? Well this might be something to look forward to.

All of these had reasons for adaptations a.k.a guaranteed profit and promotion, unlike this one.

Really? Ushio to Tora will be animated? Am I dreaming or what? It's one of the manga that I really loved in the past, can't wait to see Tora again!

I remembered reading a bit of earlier chapters quite a while ago and thought it was a decent read. MAPPA is doing it with a new studio along with promising staff so can't say I'm not looking forward to it. The budget won't be big I think but this is certainly not a series that will only be 1-cour since it's a long-running shounen and a completed one at that. Also, this

There's lots of old manga on my mind right now that I want adapted so I'm hoping for the same thing. :)

It's always great to see older manga done in current animation.

As Ginpika said, hopefully it becomes a trend.

Well some interesting news for a change. Adaptations of old manga are always a rarity, and since the studio is MAPPA this could be something.

I wonder how long this is going to run, the manga is 33 (!) volumes long.

I surely will watch it and I hope this anime brings more people to check the fucking masterpiece Ushio to Tora is.

she's a madhouse employee, but many animators work with different studios depending on paycheck or their own interest.
Plus, this is MAPPA a.k.a. MadHouse v2.0, so it's not surprising.

On topic : GO MAPPA!! LOOK AT THAT STAFF BABY!!
Overall this sounds good. Will check it out.
Imagine a berserk anime by Yoshiaki kawajiri at Madhouse.

Now take a look at Berserk (2016).

I loved the 90's OAV, and since I'm such a sucker for the 90's (combined with my current disdain for shounen anime), I feel they might mess it up with the modern day shounen tropes that drive me insane and brunded me from the genre. That being said, this is an obscure title to revive. I also said that about Birdy Decode. And I HATED BIRDY DECODE!!!!!! I Don't trust it.

im pretty hyped for this, but am i the only one worried about the amount of chapters that the manga has?

i mean i haven't read the manga, but it has 313 chapters to adapt. I'm really hoping the studio doesn't do anything stupid like try to rush the adaption or something like that.
