Well you should check out Junjou Romantica (2 seasons), Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (2 seasons), and Gravitation :) Just give those a try to see if you'll like them

I liked "no6" and "sekaiichi hatsukoi" in anime :), but you have much more manga in this genre. If you're new, try "seven days" "rutta to kodoma" "honto yajuu" they are ( relatively) soft yaoi manga

Dude, DO NOT MISTAKE yaoi with shounen ai, yaoi is basically reverse hentai, I mean... between two males. ._.
This is shounen ai, shounen ai is basically romance but with two males, without sex scenes. Shoujo ai is just like shounen ai, romance between two girls without sex scenes.
I see why did you like this even being a male, to be honest I also find it pretty good even for a shounen ai anime, but as I said, DO NOT mistake shounen ai with yaoi, you might hate yaoi as much as other male anime watchers do.
Do not take this as yaoi, this is SHOUNEN AI. You've been warned.

btw this is the only shounen ai anime I've liked so far, I don't have other to recommend to you, sorry.

manga: well since you are starting now I do not reccomend you to check yaoi manga...not now, because yaoi manga features explicit sex scenes...

Then I would reccomend:
Shonen-ai (feats only kisses) : Nº6 ; other with shonen-ai hints: uraboku
Yaoi (explicit but still sweet):
Little Butterfly
Yume Musubi Koi musubi.

Welcome to shonen-ai and yaoi world, enjoy the reading:D

Anime, definitely Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. Next, Seitokaichou ni Chuukoku and Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita.

Manga, Honto Yajuu and other of Honto Yajuu's mangaka's works. They're just cute and fluffy just like Love Stage.

Warning that Sekaiichi and Honto Yajuu are more explicit than Love Stage's anime adaption which was fairly censored...

For anime: Junjou Romantica, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and No. 6 (I know a lot of people suggested them, but they are reallyyyy good!)

For manga: Seven Days (it's the best shounen-ai manga that I have ever read)

If you want to try the Junjou/Sekaiichi series, definitely start with Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and if that doesn't make you uncomfortable at all, by all means, go to Junjou Romantica.

You're right for some points, yaoi and shonen ai are not the same. Shonen ai is more soft, BUT yaoi is not hentai. There's just a lot of sex, but there is a story with it. Can we say that "sen-ken rock" is a hentai because there's a lot of sex in it? not really. That's the same for yaoi manga. It can be shocking for begginers, and really explicit, but it's homoerotic, not (always) hentai.

And "love stage" IS a yaoi, they just removed the sex scenes in the anime :P

Anyway, it's true that you have to choose your yaoi carefully

I don't really know too many BL manga that seem really similar to Love Stage, but some of my favorite manga are:
Blue Sky Complex
Super Lovers
Ameiro Paradox
Cafe Latte Rhapsody
Slow Starter
Kirakira no Hibi
Sayonara, Heron
Hana no mizu shiru
Hana no miyako de
Ten Count

If you liked the voice actors, I would recommend Free. Rei of Love Stage has the same voice actor as Rei of Free, even.

And just because Love Stage is kind of similar to this, I would recommend Skip Beat. It isn't BL though. But I really love it.

Explicit sex scenes are labelled as hentai, it has nothing do to with their story. It isn't labelled as such because the sex scenes are not totally explicit, like in most of seinen manga.

I know, but we were talking about the anime, not the manga.

It's funny how we try desperately to separate yaoi and shônen-ai, when Japanese only talk of "Boys'love" for the both. ^^; Yaoi mangas and anime are often sweet too, and I think that the only anime I watched that is really a yaoi hentai is Sensitive Pornograph.

Back to the subject, I would immediately answer Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (the anime, it cuts out most of the sex scenes and replaces them with kisses). Junjou romantica is great, but the first season doesn't really elude the sex scenes (the season 2 does, though).
No.6 is a marvelous anime, but absolutely not a romance story. It happens that the two male characters fall in love with each other, but it's not the main theme (yet, it is really good).
The other yaoi anime I know have got sex scenes, so... ^^;

Yeah, don't watch Gravitation. It's like a third-rate Love Stage!!, aka it's nowhere near the same level of quality nor are the characters adorable or anything.

I liked Tightrope. I did not see it mentioned. Tightrope, like Love Stage is an anime with the sex scenes taken out. It is also funny.

Definitely Sekaiichi Hatsukoi.

That's the only BL manga turned anime (which excluded the sex scenes) I've seen that's anywhere decent.

There are a lot of yaoi mangas out there with really great stories and though I've seen some of them turned into anime, they're nowhere decent or even worth the watch. I hope the success of Love Stage! will increase the number of BL animes. >_< I know they usually turn yaoi mangas into shounen ai for their anime versions (which is understandable) but its better than nothing~
