| Just had to point this out since a translator thought he may have miss translated: Yes, Naofumi has a brother. I don't remember such things from the manga, but it is mentioned at the beginning of the novel. It's just out of place no matter how you read it. He's in a different world, so there's no way to see him. If it was a miss translation, I'd say he probably meant the old man. If not, possibly one of the Heroes. On another note, the manga takes a few scenes a different direction. It'd take a while to name them all, so I'll just name a few. It's possible I may have skipped a chapter or 2 as well, so correct me if I'm wrong... 1. Naofumi's identity is revealed to the villagers suffering from the epidemic in the manga. 2. The "Plant Invasion" in the manga didn't even show the battle. (Why even include it then?) 3. Even though there was an image of it in the novel, no race with the Spear Hero was included. The whole scene leading up to it as well. 4. As they make preparations for the next wave, the order of events seem to be in a completely different order. I don't really remember everything but after skimming threw the manga again, a lot of changes were made to the story. I'd almost recommend reading the manga only because it's revised, but the fast pacing leaves much to be desired. The novel isn't perfect but, even after a few revisions, the manga isn't either. Oh, and I've given up trying to figure out which is better when it comes to distinguishing who's speaking. Anime is the best medium to solve that problem. Thankfully, some translators take the time to distinguish who's speaking, but sometimes the arrows on the text bubbles in manga are missing and light novels seem to neglect stating who's talking all together. (possibly lost in translation or the format of another language) |

| Neat follow up to first volume, my only negative was that it seemed to lose a bit too much focus later on, and there was no built up to a climax on said volume. Aside that, the pros are still here, I like the slow pacing and development of the party, now also with Filo. She is a cute kid, but damm, you gotta have a strigh hand on her sometimes, if not she will just do whatever she wants and with that size... It was a great new party member that got and it did change the structure of the plot a bit, since now they visited all those different locations and all. Also Filo just eats whatever she wants, like rotten dragon meat?! UGH!! |
