| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Second episode and I still don't really know what is going on. Fortunately, that's a plus for me. I believe that Reika can somehow activate RahXephon, as well as Ayato, with her singing. The question I have is how can she do that, and why does it effect Ayato in the first place. Also, why did RahXephon attack the Dolem when they appear to be held in the same place and are controlled by the same people? Who or what is Ayato's mother and what is up with Haruka. For some reason Haruka is the only person I trust so far, though I could be wrong. |

| As a great fan of NGE I treat this show VERY skeptically and now feel a mixture of disgust (I simply don't like the design of RaXephon) and confusion. The pace is tooo slow, many very uncertain moments and I can't stand Reika's and mecha's howl. They are not singing, they are HOWLING. My ears are bleeding. But still it's only 2nd episode..maybe the situation will change for better. |
| Every second of this show has been wonderful so far. I also love that it straddles the old style/new style, which makes it look rather unique. So people in Japan think that America and England don't exist anymore and the world's population is 23 million, but in truth it is 6 billion, so I also assume that America and England actually DO exist. Haruka also said something about breaking through a wall? Maybe this is like The Truman Show or Vexille, where Japan is completely sealed off from the world somehow and they are being told lies about the outside world? And the part where they didn't know who Reika was but then she appeared and suddenly they did remember her? I don't know what the fuck is going on but I am utterly fascinated. |

I'm liking the BGM as well. I knew there was something strange about Kamina's mother, but I wasn't expecting her to have blue blood. |
Please learn about cel animation and its technical process. Learn how special effects and backlighting were done without computers. |
| So I understand the story telling technique of leaving the audience in the dark to give the same perspective as the main characters, and I think that the show is using it very effectively. It's like the show began in the third act. However, I don't think I like this way of telling a story. The mystery at the heart of the series is strong enough to string me along though. I just wish I knew what was happening and who I'm supposed to be rooting for. |

| Wow lotsa mysteries - blue blood, weird droning girl, and illusions of the world (23 million vs 6 billion people and maybe Reika is fake?). The mech things are weird and creepy and I expect we will see more of them in the next episode. Also weren't there like attacking aliens in episode 1? |

| I feel bad whenever I call something boring, but that's exactly how I would describe this series. I understand that the setup for this is intentionally meant to be enigmatic, but I haven't been given a reason to care about what is happening so it all just kind of blurs together. This is clearly a show which takes a while to develop and reveal itself, but I question whether the payoff will be worth it. I'll give one or two more episodes a go but overall I can't see myself sticking with this. |

| Don't wanna compare this to later show, but the supporting/background characters forgetting that there was a battle the next day combined with being told the outside world doesn't exist (any more) really reminds me of SSSS.GRIDMAN where only the protagonists know. This Mishima Reika girl must be a hallucination of sorts (projected by the RahXephon?). Kamina is the only one that always remembers her but his friends Torigai and Asahina only know who she is in the moment she exists. So, Kamina's mother is not human... |

| Great episode! The opening scene, the rooftop and the birth of a being on an egg. This really REALLY reminds me of Shin Megami Tensei III opening FMV. Especially the Rooftop Hospital scene which looks freaking familiar here 36:10 Also, this freaked me out for some reason. When I didn't saw her reflection in the pool. Which makes me believe that she's dead and not part of the world or could be Ayato's hallucination or she could even be a being not from this world (Angel).  Lots of nice action scenes!! Can't wait for more unraveling! This is good stuff!! |
| Character interactions are dull and animation mid. Not to mention it got mega slow at the end. I guess Kamina's mom is interesting lol |
| Wow, das crazy. I didnt even realize what SomaHeir posted. I knew something was up with her tho. Also, we got this whole split of Japan by itself vs the whole world actually still being alive. So i wonder if Japan is in some sort of bubble made by aliens and the world is trying to save them. |

| so much mystery.. just when I thought Mishima could be Ayato's hallucination, she seems real.. and just when she seems real, we do not see her reflection in water.. I'm confused and still in the dark about almost everything in this show but truly fascinated. |
