Those are some weird dance moves. I'm not really fond of their voice but the attention they attracted outside was a bit amusing. I guess maybe they do deserve that round of applause.

It was pretty meh! Shounen Hollywood members are singing in the public, I'm not really fond of their voices!

Best ep in a while if you ask me!

It was so awkward, but so amusing! And it's actually a legit dilemma! If you can't sing in public there is no way you can be an idol. I even really liked how they made him more comfortable.

I'm by no means saying that they are brilliant singers! But it is a series about becoming an idol group.

Finally some more lines and song from Ono Kensho! I've been looking forward to that!
The 2002 Tokyo Mew Mew adaptation is not as great as you remember it being.

Wow, so embarrassing. And this time they're pulling the moves in public.
I was hoping that I'd never see those intros in ep.1 again. >__<"

Saying that, glad he broke out of his shell a bit. If you're an idol and can't sing...
The entire episode in sing-song was a bit annoying though.

Agreed.

I was smiling so much when they did their intros. It was cute (though yes, embarrassing)! I'm glad I got to hear more of Shun's voice <3 But I just wish they sang the entire Hollywood Rule song this ep. The second version of Hello Sekai for the ED was quite cute too.

Encouraging Kakeru to sing; members of Shounen Hollywood begin responding to each others through singing. They took it a bit too far though. Still, not terribly bad.

The only part that was pretty funny was when Shun said, "♪ If you don't stop us with song, ♪ we won't come back."

I guess they got over the embarrassment of performing in front of the public while improving their singing skills this episode.

Not really. When you hear idol groups, it's always produced, and generally heavily autotuned.

Episode was ok, but I expected a Shun special. Are we not getting one?

red-hair and blue-hair have okay voices when they're talking. green-hair's is kinda grating. silver-hair's is annoying as hell and FUCK YELLOW-HAIR'S. IT'S THE SINGLE MOST ANNOYING THING I HAVE EVER HEARD.

i'm getting really fucking annoyed with this show.

Yeah, I think the most important part of this was that they aren't afraid to go out there and "embarrass" themselves. I think some idols mv's and dances are kind of stupid, some of them might think that way as well, but they can't be idols if they're afraid being embarrassed by what they do.

Everyone did a great job making Kakeru open up and sing ^^

I really Aoi Shouta's voice since he is mainly a singer after all, but holy crap no offense but he's not that great as Tomii. I believe the sound/voice acting director or whoever is in charge probably just told them to sing their lines however they want, but Tomii didn't really do a good job of singing the lines. Aoi Shouta, where are your music skills from singing all these years?? :( I think Yamashita Daiki did the best with singing his lines, which is funny because at first I didn't like Kira's voice all that much. OnoKen and Kakki had a few good ones too. Ohsaka Ryota did a good job doing a bad job at singing enka in the beginning LOL. Poor Kakeru getting yelled at his sister all the time. If I got yelled at my sister for singing poorly all the time I'm pretty sure I would have no confidence either.

Anyways, I like the episode that the line "you can't devote your life to your life." It's just another way to say "enjoy/live in the present," but I find it quite nice.

I'm a huge fan of musicals and this is the first episode I've really enjoyed from this show. I love how them singing in town gets such terrible reactions from people. It's what every meta-musical likes to do, and this show handled it in the best way possible.

However....

NONE OF THEM CAN SING IT HURTS MY EARS. I don't know if they were actually cast for their singing ability but the opening is as much of an indicator as anyone needs that only one or two of the cast can sing... It's almost painful. We'll see if they improve at all, but right now I don't have high hopes for my ears.

Well you can't really make random cohesive dialogue be an actual song with a consistent tone. The whole point was to get Kakeru to get into the moment and revel in it rather than worry about how it's received, so he can do it for his own pleasure. That's why they started singing dialogue, it's good practice, and even in public it's also a great way to deal with stage fright.

I respect the series for having the balls to keep its direction and artistic expression in return jarring the viewer's experience, even if that is against the basic rules of a visual medium(shows that the scriptwriter is inexperienced, even if she is a novelist).

4/5 I liked it for what it portrays and even how it did it, despite getting the way of viewing experience.

As a musician, I'm kind of pissed off that the anime producers didn't get the seiyuu to at least sing on the same key. I mean, it's understandable that Kakeru wasn't singing well but the rest kept on switching key. Also, why did they add background music to the scenes when the seiyuu kept on switching the key omg. So painful for my ears. I know these seiyuu have the ability to sing better, so why couldn't the anime utilize that..?

Like I said in ep1 discussion, the cast for this show are all too high-pitched. It would be way better if it had Utapri's seiyuu balance (like how they had different types of voices)

Anyway, pretty cheesy episode. Other than the horrible music direction, it was not bad.

Then they screwed up hard then, which is a real shame, the scene calls for a lot more effort and finesse than it was handled now that I think about it.

At least it makes for an interesting observation.

I can't agree more!! We can see that they have improved more since episode 1. And Kakeru's trying to have more confidence in himself, or rather than confidence it seems that he needs to be more open..
Somehow I find it interesting to sing-talk XD

Some people commented about their singing abilities. I actually think all the seiyuu can sing well, we all know Aoi, Kakihara, and Ono sing. I've heard Oosaka and Yamashita sing and they are good. Probably they do it deliberately to show that the characters are still developing. Just my opinion though

I seriously don't think they are aiming for well-executed singing on the first place. Especially considering at this stage, the characters are still trainees, they didn't even have their proper debut yet so they still suck in many areas. They'll probably sing better in the future.

I hope you're right about that! I'm looking forward to their actual singing other than Hello Sekai which is mostly them singing in unison.

Or they're just having fun.

"Lame, your song just struck out"
"Say what? Don't knock my song! Let's take this outside!"---accented with a high kick XD

I think you guys are taking this way too seriously... I thought this was a very cute episode. I agree that I'm not that fond of all their voices, but idk I think they were just having fun. My friends and I screw around like that sometimes, so... anyways, I'm quite fond of Kakeru now after this episode.

Ganbatte Kakeru cuz I can totally feel you there, I' have been through this stage. Harsh sis though.

Their song made me cringe at first but soon, it got better once I got to know their purpose for doing that. But still, made me cringe after all. "Let's singing." My ears... They looked so embarrassing and weird but still it was done with a meaning. A bit wacky tho.

I liked Kira's singing the most.

Damn those introduction. So cringe-worthy.

This episode was just... don't know what to say. I am amazed the VAs could agree to do all that.

Most idols all start out pretty bad, y'know. Have you seen K-pop? A lot of the SNSD girls and SHINEE boys (I know this because I used to be into these bands..) only had one or two talented singers in their groups while the others just had good looks or dance skills. They grow their skills later on.
