I'm not sure why but it just doesn't seem to me that this movie is canon to the HxH (2011) series.

Something that kept going through my head is why in the tv series was Killua surprised by Netero's nen when he had already experienced it here (albiet Netero was building up more power in the tv series), but it still doesn't click with me.
Also when did they have the time to take this little vacation from their time with Kite? In the series it seemed like too much was going on for them to do anything else. And no one seems to remember On in the tv series, even though it doesn't really matter due to it being somewhat eradicated. There are many other things that don't add up for me, but I'm tired of ranting.
I'd like others opinions or facts on whether you think this is or isn't a canon movie, because to me it's just like all Bleach, Pokemon and Naruto movie that doesn't matter in the least bit in the story.

P.S. - i started this because i saw posts on other websites of people trying to fit this in the series' timeline.

No, don't try to make sense out of non-canon movies.

No. The excuse they've given (i.e. after meeting with Kaito and, if the sub I've used is correct, before the Chimera Ant) is not viable.

Well, it's not canon nonetheless.

My best guess would be that it is set in an alternate reality. In this world, after completing Greed Island, Gon and Killua meet Kite. However the whole Chimera Ant incident doesn't happen. They basically just have alot of fun together, after which they part ways and then the movie starts.

The only thing canon in the Hunter x Hunter movies is Kurapika's background story (Pairo, the test to get out of the village, the bad guys that Kurapika knocked down). All the rest is some kind of nonsense stuff never mentioned in the manga. I would recommend reading the "volume 0", Kurapika's reminiscences. It's pretty good!

This movie probably takes place during the time when Kite had been kidnapped and Gon and Killua were refused entrance to the NGL till they became stronger or something

Some just refuse to accept reality and are convinced that somehow THEY out of the millions of HxH fans will solve this puzzle that doesn't even exist. Its just a movie nothing more or less. Enjoy it for what it is and don't waste your time worrying about canon cause it ain't there and was never intended to be.

Thanks heavens its not cannon. How in the world did they do remake + 2 made up movies yet never continue the series?? What happened? The anime is still one of the top, how comes no one is picking it up?

[me going on about the movie....] Good part: characters, bad part: a movie just like any other.... Start with random people doing stuff that is making them the avatar of fear, than go to Protagonists running around in a completely lively town center than will never repeat not even for a fraction. Tons of shock faces that just say: it them! Scary people, IN HOOD, because they need to cover themselves, regardless were they go, they need tonbe covered for whatever reason unknown, taking control of everything and immobilize the op character with methods no one in non movies ever managed to do, why? Because it movies they don't move to evade enemies attack so they get caught. Enemies use mysterious powers that no one ever used them before regardless how bad or intelligent they are, they the bad guys, all of them, have access to it, only for the power to never be mentioned again, only Protagonist are the one who escape and can save them. Absolut trah dynamic.... I watch the movie and like the characters... Sadly... The movie dynamics is just screaming with copy paste ideea.... Like lets have all the super op characters (the floor masters that we don't know how strong they actually are) but titles, lose miserable again the opponents... Why on earth was this movies made? Please tell me they are not the reason why we didn't get episodes 149 up!
