Just thought I would open this topic to discuss any non anime surreality, basically you can add, recommend, discuss anything which you think would fit here.

I will be adding some pics and some russian animation (only I am running late with some work) No change there then

I love that one (except for the antisemitism, but whatever I can forgive it for the awesome surrealism).

What other Russian animations were you thinking of? I grew up watching mostly things like Nu Pagodi and Kot Lapolt. Nothing particularly surreal... Except maybe Hedgehog in the Fog. It's a bit dreamlike:

Other than that, I can vaguely recall a few more cartoons, but I can't find any on youtube. I remember there was a really cool one about the Firebird fairy tale...

I'm waiting for a "Masters of Russian Animation" DVD, though. It should be interesting (it includes Glass Harmonica).

Anyway, other cool surrealism:

Destino - collaboration between Salvador Dali and Disney

La Vieille Dame Et Les Pigeons - Sylvain Chomet (he also made Les Triplettes de Belleville)

And some surreal movies I like:
Luis Buñuel films. So far I've seen:
Un chien andalou
El ángel exterminador
Belle de jour
Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie
Le fantôme de la liberté

Some Ingmar Bergman movies (like Hour of the Wolf). David Lynch movies (Eraserhead is my favorite). Some Fellini movies. Some David Cronenburg movies. Er... can't remember every strange movie I've seen right now.

I heard Alejandro Jodorowsky was good, but I haven't seen his stuff yet.

What is the Ingmar film around a chessboard (dementia is getting to me these days ;) ) I have not seen Eraserhead for about a decade - but still remember the Baby - very disturbing indeed.

As for Croneburg Exintz was pretty surreal at times but was pretty disappointed with his adaption of Ballard's Crash though to be fair it would have been pretty difficult.

To add to your very good list:

camping Cosmos - Jan Bucquoy
Un Soir, un Train - Jan Bucquoy
Le Sang d'un poète - Jean Cocteau

And I totally agree with your sentiments concerning the antisemitism - which seemed to be a nasty trait with alot of the bourgeos artists of the time
