Well firstly I am one of the older MALers but beware are numbers are growing *evil laugh*. I am a Brit but do not hold that against me. I have a son who unfortunately does not live with me. I have a somewhat warped sense of humour where some people may just not understand my arid wit.
University educated but work in totally different field for a variety of charities. I have had so many jobs from being a bicycle courier, teacher of English as a foreign language in Barcelona, IT Manager for one of the largest PR companies in Britain to working as a kitchen porter.
Have travelled a lot in my early years but have many commitments presently.
Quite political but not aligned to any doctorate probably, would call myself a situationist (wiki it if you can be bothered) if pushed too.
What Anime?
Pretty late developer where anime is concerned – so I am looking forward to discovering all those gems – if you have any recommendations please comment.
I am generally drawn to the dark side, anything supernatural, disturbing and unusual but do try to broaden my sights – I watch child friendly shows with my son.
I also love short animes
How I score
You may think I am a bit mean with my scoring so here is how I come to scoring
Story and character development (1-25) – This would be how the story develops, is it coherent, plausible in the setting etc…. Do I feel for the characters good or bad
Animation (1-25) – Self explanatory, only I will take in to consideration when the show was released.
Sound (1-25) – As I do not speak any Japanese I obviously can not comment on dialogue and I do not like dub so, I would score on incidental noise and music from opening credits to closing and are the background scores appropriate and create the right atmosphere
Emotions (1-25) – Listed last but this really makes or breaks the show for me, was I scared, sad, joyful, bored, irritated or involved in the plot.
I then divide the totals by 10 and get the final score
Ideally all the above should be done for each episode but hey I have a life
For the best description I have found for what these scores actually mean please have a look at ArnoldK Profile as I could not improve this (btw ArnoldK did give me permission).
Music?
Where do I start? Was always a bit of a weirdo when I was young – actually I still am.
In the late 70’s when I really started to develop my own taste I would listen to a radio DJ called John Peel who changed my life. I started listening to what was then known as alternative music, stuff like The Clash, Ultravox (before Midge Ure), The Residents, Talking Heads, Crass, Joy Division and pretty much got in to the Punk scene and would go to gigs 3 or 4 times a week.
In the 80’s I was into the weird electronic sound Kraftwerk, DAF, Throbbing Gristle, Phsyic TV, Clock DVA and Caberet Voltaire to name a few.
Come the 90’s in a word ACID got heavily into dance music probably because of my love for electronic stuff. I even DJed generally ambient and minimal techno.
Today I have chilled a lot and will still listen to all the above and very occasionally go clubbing. But during all this time I would listen and like loads of mainstream stuff and believe it or not I even goto the opera if I think it’s a good production.
Clubs as either creator, admin or hang out
Please no random Friend Requests leave a comment and we can chat first.
Concerning Club invites I will not join until I have watched club activities as I do not want to join clubs which are dormant or saturated with ignorance
There is a slight change…
GP Predictor is now operated by MotorSport something or other. If you click on the CLICK HERE link at the club, it will take you to the site. I had a bitch of a time trying to get in, ending up setting up an account thru Google Play Store, creating a new account on GP Predictor and then I was able to access it on my PC. I also started a new league. There doesn’t seem to be any codes associated w/ it but if you search MAL F1 Pitstop Challenge, you will find it. Good luck.
