Just watched the movie
interesting how they decided to include Kayura but not A-tan D=
the Hina moments were alright, but overall I still experienced the same entertainment value as i watched the anime

Wasnt that a bad way to present the mom (if she was Hayate's mom)? I mean wasnt his parents always portrayed as corrupt and the ones whom sold Hayate to society?

Anyhow i cant wait for the new season XD more Hina YAYA

I'm pretty sure that wasn't Hayate's mom guys. That was his grandmother, in other words she mentions in one part that she is the mother of Hayate's dad.

The moment when you finally realize again that Maria is actually 17 and that the maid would actually be a more likeable main character than the original. Nagi sucks. More Maria. Though I have to admit that I'd like a pyjama like Nagi's cat suit. ~Nya! Hina was pretty cool, saving them. Let's give her a spin-off. As a mahou shoujo.

I'm a fan of the series esp. S1 but this kinda displeased me. It would fit rather as an OVA.

The only scene I liked was when Klaus and Tama appeared. XD

I loved the all seasons of the Hayate anime and I was going into this with some high expectations.
Needless to say, it disappointed.

The music was in one word... awful. Sounded like a cheap B cheese movie music. Instead of immersing me in the moment, it took me right out and made me wonder who on earth wrote this music for this movie... Especially those action/chase scenes... Wow... those were bad...

I don't mind the art style, but what I do mind is the lack of detail. It could be becausee I watched the 480p DVD version of it, but nothing in this movie, aside from the amusement pack backgrounds were outstanding or as many would say "movie quality."

I think they were going for a more emotional route than a full comedy one, but I feel they failed both sides. On the comedy side, there were 1-2 good scenes, but compared to the anime, nowhere near as good in terms of quality (mainly execution, setup and timing) and quantity.

Pacing - most animes get this wrong and this movie does too. It goes all over the place, jumping randomly from scenes.

For a movie, this just seemed... so low budget...

Memorable moment would be Hayate creating another misunderstanding with Hina.

The movie was given to be at a time after the manga, so Alice's '3-months' were probably up, so she was probably gone by the time the movie started, and I expect the other characters to develop more in the time-space between when the manga is and the movie begins, so things might get more filled in by then.

I don't think that the 'grandmother' bit explains anything either, especially since the only debt of Hayate's father wasn't even mentioned (the debt to Wataru's store is specifically his, while the larger debt is from both parents and she doesn't act like the 'daughter-in-law' had anything to do with it). She doesn't seem to act as if she's actually part of the liniage of the Ayasaki's either, Hayate and his brother are the only ones who act unselfishly. If it was somebody who knew him, she'd know that it didn't have anything to do with money, as opposed to the confusion she showed.
Given how Hayate is really easy to get to like somebody, it's not at all unrealistic that the person had no real connection to him.

Reaffirming the bond between Hayate and Nagi goes beyond money, while the only pairing that seemed to get anything was Hayate/Hinagiku

I liked this movie. Especially the musics (OP, ED, Insert Song).

The story could be developed more though.

I think it's a bookmaker where the season 3 will end. They will definitely cover the End of The World arc, and maybe the NatsuComi part. I wonder when it will air. If it air with Sword Art Online. I'm gonna pass out from happiness.

The Color is better in Season 2, i think. It's just too bland. The animation is fluid though.

Where in the HELL i can get that Ruka theme?

I loved the Opening song, all the memories of first watching Hayate no Gotoku came rushing back. I loved this movie so much because I have been seriously Hayate Deprived since the end of season 2, and I really can't wait for the 3rd season. I hope it is longer than 26 episodes!!

Ya, I actually didn't really bother with the 480 versions, I thought I'd spoil the moment a little less waiting for Blurays to come out, it was more than worth the wait. Everything was just so damn awesome in 1080. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit actually, a little less than the series, but it was still nice.

And FUCK YA, Hinagiku fight scene was so fucking awesome. I could not contain the thrill of seeing her in action. I missed her so bad. @_@

It's a shame they didn't do better on the soundtrack, this series usually has some pretty good ones. :(

Well, I wasn't expecting much but it was quite good, lot's of references (and publicity, lol). Still it lacked more gags, I think. As said the screentime given to the characters was fair overall, so it was fine, Hina is still the best though :P The "OP" with Ruka singing was pretty good.

In all honesty, the movie just plain sucked in my opinion.
It was just boring and I wasn't enjoyed even in the slightest.
So, I've been really disappointed by it, especially since I loved the first two seasons.
I was glad to hear that this wasn't actually written by the author of the Manga, so Season 3 is still something I can look forward to.

First of all I want to say in my opinion this was a great movie, I really didn't expect much when I started watching but I do have some complaints. First of all I just finished the first two seasons and the OVA and haven't read the manga yet (I know some stuff in the manga) and the things I didn't like were -

The new animation style, I don't think it was bad but I preferred the old one.

It showed Athena and Ruka during the opening and then Kayura showed up as Nagi's friend, these characters haven't been showed in the anime yet =P

During the opening it showed the scene of Hayate and Chiharu, the scene of Athena, and they also talked about Ayumu's birthday, again these haven't been shown in the anime yet.

Finally, this is not really something I didn't like but still bothered me. Hinagiku's scream when Hayate walked in the bath, it just didn't sound like her in my opinion...

But still I give the movie a 8/10. I also really liked the scene of Hayate and Hinagiku holding hands, and the scene of Hinagiku destroying the robots.

I have high hopes for season 3 and the manga when I eventually start reading it.

I'm surprised how people are criticizing this movie, praising only the worst parts (Hina). This movie was great, plain and simple. I'm really glad I waited till the BD version.

The art style seemed very much okay for me, I see no difference between how the characters looked here and how they look in the original manga. The story was also interesting - the first part was nice because it was so pleasantly slow-paced and yet had the usual HnG humor in it (loved Nagi's tantrums for some reason). The second part was interesting for the story itself - Hayate's grandmother's feelings, the memory modifications... It was interesting and allowed Isumi the Awesome to kick some ass.

Did anybody else noticed a lot of Mai from Nichijou in Kayura? That's one heck of a plus for her character.

Of course as always we get way too much screentime for the younger Katsura (and by that I mean we see her on screen) and way too little for the older one, but even then Hinagiku wasn't THAT annoying this time (except maybe for the "saves the day" scene and the fanservice one) and Yukiji got a really nice scene after the credits.

The Idiots Trio was also very entertaining here. Especially Risa.

As for lack of Athena - it's good she didn't have a part. She couldn't have, she hadn't been introduced in the anime yet. She has two arcs to be animated before she'll be able to be shown in the apartment with the others. Besides her character is so good specifically because she's a PLOT character. She's connected very tightly to the big story going on, so such a movie wouldn't be any good for her.

And before reading some posts in this thread I didn't even notice the lack of Best Narrator Evah in this movie. Must be because I'm a manga person and it's been a long time since I watched the anime. Still, it doesn't bother me - the Best Narrator Evah is great for comedy and this movie, while with funny moments, had a more or less serious story to tell. It's true he absolutely has to appear in the third season though.

All in all - it was very nice to see some new animated Hayate after this long time and it didn't disappoint.

i don't like how they keep changing the character's art styles but other than that, this movie has retained the character's personalities, have a solid soundtrack, and an interesting plot. The pacing was good considering it was only about an hour long.

I haven't had anything to do with Hayate no Gotoku in a long time. It was refreshing to see the same ol' characters to their same ol' antics. Plus, my infatuation of Hinagiku has been revived.

Good watch. I usually feel like I wasted time after watching movies but this one prevented that thought from ever crossing my mind.

No. The movie established in the first minute (by Hayate's monologue) that you have to at least read the manga to know what sort of things happened in between the movie and the anime. It's not the movies fault if you don't know Ruka, Athena (if she appeared) or you got spoiled for watching it. Heck, it even showed flashes of Nagi drawing a doujinshi and selling it in the comiket.

Great movie, the art style was a bit awkward at first but I got used to it fast. I prefer the old artsyle though, this one feels more like a cartoon than an anime imo. Backgrounds were very detailed though, where as the characters were simple.
The movie actually had a story, I didn't expect that since it doesn't fit this show very well but they did a good job.
8/10, I'm looking forward to season 3.

This was by far the worst fucking garbage I have ever seen. Never in my life have I regretted seeing a movie until now.
I wholeheartedly wish I could go back in time and not ever see this pointless waste of time and energy.

I honestly don't understand how whomever wrote this garbage can live with himself.

Wow, the New Artwork is awesome for me.
Kayura is kawai...
Hina when using sword for saving her frends is awesome.
Hayate is dull as always, poor Hinagiku, and poor Nagi...
A lot of character that i don't know, i have been too long not reading the manga.

I didn't care about the movie plot for this: Why did Suzune go to such methods just to give Hayate that item? She could have just lead him to it without doing everything she did, and as an alternative she could have just talked it out with him peacfuly instead of erasing Nagi's memory. All in all, 5/10 I found the movie pretty weak compared to the actuall series.

36:31 I wish Maria is the ojou-sama instead. This scene was funny! She can't break the habit of being the super maid. lol

It's been over ten years since I saw anything from this series.

I remember why Hinagiku is still the best girl in this series and why Nagi is annoying. I wish Hina is the main love interest. Oh well. She looked so hot when she came in and slashed those robots to pieces. That was nice action!

That ghost was Hayate's grandma. Interesting. Instead, he should've taken that diamond and lived happily with Hinagiku.
