Original "plot" with a lot of original casts makes this series...

Can you tell me another kind of plot that is on par/better than this? (besides DRRR)

I really wanted to love this show, I really did. It's so original and unique in its approach. Definitely distinct from other shows.

However, something about the characters and plot just didn't sit well with me. It's like they're completely unrelated, and by the end of the series you can really see how much they hopelessly tried to glue them together as if everything would tie in.

It's probably because the episodes aren't many, the show practically used every second to further the plot, and it's really apparent that they've left a lot of stuff from the novel out.

I guess it's one of those shows where the little details would have made all the difference. Definitely needed more episodes.

I watched a few episodes and decided it wasn't for me. I really liked the score and the animation(so crisp!). But the deal breaker for me were the dialogues. Sometimes animes go for a soap opera type script, which just makes me puke. The whole reason I watch anime is for the characters to not make pretentious half-speeches or bad jokes. A few are fine, but when you get a whole lot of cutesy or trying-to-be-specifically-funny kind of dialogues, it just ruins the experience.

I had a similar problem with Steins Gate in the beginning, until I saw the time travel bit. The story didn't actually immediately pickup after that, but I saw potential and am happy to say that I was completely blown away by it. Maybe I'll try Baccano again, but I just can't recommend it.

Just finished Baccano today and I loved every second of it. The OVAs were a little less exciting than the main core but I think I'd have liked them better if they had more time to flesh out their story. There were characters in the OVA I'd never seen before and if we had more time to interact with them, I'd have rated the specials a 9 like I did the main anime.

What made me love Baccano so much were all the interesting, psychotic characters and their overlapping stories. There wasn't a single main character I didn't want to see more of or learn more about. And that's what an anime is for. It's supposed to make you want to see and learn more. It leads you straight to the manga/light novels. I can't wait to read them now that they're being translated.

My favorite characters were Isaac and Miria. Ooh, but I reluctantly fell in love with Ladd Russo too!

Just binge watched Baccano! and really wanted to post my opinion because it has a great reputation among MAL community and wanted to post a different opinion. Now those are just my opinions and I don't want to trigger anyone and it's not a review or something just my opinions.

When I first started series in first 3 episodes I thought ''Wow this series has a lot of potential and could possibly be one of my all time favorites.'' Characters were interesting the story was unique etc.and I have nothing against non-linear story narrative as long as it's done right just point that out right away.

HOWEVER Baccano! greatly suffers from only having 13 ep and SO MUCH to tell simultaneously. Not to mention that ginormous cast with more half of them end up having little to no dynamic characterization whatsoever.I couldn't care less about their possible deaths besides Issac and Miria's.Which a positive point I wanna point out the only 2 character porbably got their development and dynamic the best thourghout the series. The characterization was so poorly executed to the point I can't even remember most of their NAMES.Claire...Oh god where to start I can't believe that character has more fans than Miria and Isaac EVEN LADD is more sympathetic and has a way better characterization.I could keep going forever about the weak character development but I do wanna point out my opinion about other things and don't want to keep this too long.

Unfortunetely climax wasn't helping either.I was left with so many unanswered questions and with the feeling ''This can't be the end there's gotta be something more.'' but there wasnt. And I said that I really don't have a probem with non-linear narrative and Baccano! sometimes brilliantly handled but just not all the time.Because it had so much to tell it jumped between the stories just when everything gets exciting it hops to a scene with a dialogue and that scene belongs to another story. It failed in one of the stories to tie up everything and make a satisfying conclusion.

Overall I think Baccano! had such a great potential to be a masterpiece in my eyes but unfortunetely being only 1 cour 13 episodes ruined it mostly. If it werent for Isaac and Miria I could've hated this series even. 6/10 for a final score.

I wanna briefly mention I've read previous comments and so glad with this thread everyone just expressing their opinions no butthurt fans no pointless arguments and no cancerous people.

@Intense_ Well, those are valid points but I get the feeling that you blew these flaws out of proportion. Personally, I think it's not that big of a problem. Baccano is still amazing for my taste.

About the conclusion, I'd say that while I also felt that there's still a lot to be told, it still wrapped up the series nicely. It left me with the great feeling of wanting more though. Hopefully Shuka will make a full adaptation just like they did with Durarara.

I think I need to apologize, tbh, I couldn't take your post seriously because of that Re:Zero signature.

I definately think it's about how much you enjoyed watching the series. I found it fun to watch and a nice change of pace from shounen action mainstream anime. There were times though, that I was aware of a fine line seperating the enjoyment of the series and bafflement at its ridiculous characters and plotlines. I think you need to have an easygoing approach to this show and an open mind to really enjoy it. :)

Its nonlinear storytelling and diverse cast of characters made this a very entertaining and engaging anime. Baccano! oozes fun.
