Lalah must have some sort of ability to make Amuro sense something. Her being able to see the battle somehow let Amuro know where he was being attacked.

Intrestingly, Amuro's father went crazy? Or he is a genius? Maybe he invented a cool thing for gundam or this is really a piece of trash.

Have a bit of a grip with the Char and Amuro scene, makes scenes that Char won't know that he's talking to the pilot of the Gundam But surly the mask and helmet of Zeon mast famous ace pilot would be common knowledge amount the Federation pilots. Amuro think Char's name to himself when he see him but then he like 'I know I somehow I know who you are'. I was under the impression Char was a well recognised public face, (well a face behind a mask anyway).

Even if that wasn't the case, the both of them who are stranger to each other wouldn't just talk to each other so causally meeting on the street with them both in each is respected uniform. If they were in street clothing and Char was not wearing a mask even sunglasses this scene would be fine. Just find it hard to believe two people from warring arms would so easily lend a hand to the other. Char himself was like 'what was with that kid' when he left, Char a bit funny in the head I'll take it.

Also I've been watching this off and on again I forget were would Char hear Amuro name in the past I'm drawing a blank?

Best part about Slegger's actions is that he had no trouble assaulting either party during the conflict between Cameron and Mirai. One or two episodes ago, he decked Cameron (after politely removing his glasses), and this time he backhands Mirai. He's a straight shooter, if a bit gruff and violent, to be sure.

I don't know what I hate more, Sleggar's butting into people's business/assaults/general toxic masculinity or that Bright in this case was all "Yeah! You tell 'em!"

I don't know why, but these slaps are way more amusing than they should be.

Something I don't get though is the sexist comments. Wouldn't it be more sexist if only men were allowed to be slapped? It's not like only women are being slapped either.

I think what Sleggar was trying to convey is that Cameron was really trying for Mirai, but there's no way I'm going to defend him (Sleggar).

I actually didn't find it to be sexist and I'm a woman. Mirai deserved the slap. If Sayla would have slapped her no one would have said it's sexist, but since it was this dude, then it's sexist. lol
Mirai was being rude. She could have talked with him in private but she didn't. Everyone was listening. She was humiliating him, why?? She asked him before to start to take risks, and that's what he wanted to do finally. He wanted to help, to put them safe, also to put her safe from danger, but she didn't want him to do it because she knows she can't feel the same for him and that's the only way she found to reject him. She's a smart character but it's obvious to me that in this case she wasn't being logical. The guy has given them the best move he could to help them. And even after doing it, he wanted to watch her for once last time, and her answer was only to thumbs up. That was hash, Mirai.
Hablo español.

And..............a slap!! I feel bad for Amuro's dad, I think it is better if he had died instead of staying like that. Char and Amuro first meeting in person was kinda tense, Amuro knows Char but he doesn't know that he faced Amuro many times lol.

People saying this anime is sexist is the best joke.

I agree. It’s pretty funny the people who think this show is sexist, especially if they think that because of the slap. All people have been slapped equally and it’s a beautiful thing lmao

I honestly couldn’t care less about Lalah so far. Feels like they are trying too hard with her eccentric/otherworldly personality.

I wasn't too big on the tone towards Mirai in this episode, though I do agree that the crew should have taken Cameron's help with the escort. The scene between Amuro and Char was intense and recalls Amuro meeting Ramba Ral. Lalah was very creepy in her introduction, making me feel similar to when I first watched anime and was really confused by it. That was pretty neat.

Funny how some people in this thread call the show sexist, even though both genders are being slapped, which is the opposite of being sexist, lol. The slap was a bit uncalled for, but I do agree that Mirai could've just accepted Cameron's help. I hate that she just doesn't tell him what she wants. She clearly wants a man who throws himself into battle for her, which is just unreasonable unless she specifically dates a soldier or hero-type.

The meeting of Amuro and Lalah felt a bit forced, since they only met because Amuro visited his father a second time for no reason. But it was interesting at least. Lalah seems to have psychic abilities, since she seems to know things before they happen (the bird, the rain, the outcome of the battle) and from the looks of it, it transferred over to Amuro who suddenly got insane battle instincts and knew exactly where the weakspots of the enemy ship were... He also got to meet Char face to face (not really, due to the mask) for the first time, which was a pretty tense scene.

Well, Amuro's dad has completely lost it. Char and Amuro meeting and then Char helping him was intense and also showed Char's humanity, he really is good to his soldiers, I just wish I knew why he was fighting for Zeon when he wants revenge on the Zabi family. I don't know all of Cameron and Mirai's history so I can't comment on her reaction. Sleggar was out of line in my opinion, he could have just said something rather than smacking her. Cameron was so sweet to help.

SOO many things to recap. 1st that slap REALLY shows the age of this anime. There would be a outrage if that happened today. 2nd did Mirai flick off her fiance LOL that was sooo funny. Last, does Amuro have super powers now? wtf was that prediction and x-ray vision.

So amuros encounter with char was pretty brief. We also meet a new girl lalah who amuro might have a cruch on next. Amuros dad got dementia early on, And sledger slapping Miria was Unexpected making me dislike him a bit I also bright would do something but it seems the wrughters forgot about him and mirai

Oh boy, time for "People being creepily excited about a man slapping a woman" thread 2. I am already dreading reading through it.

Sleggar is my least favourite character, even disregarding this episode. I hope he leaves soon, wether alive or dead. The fact that he wasnt reprimanded made me think less of Bright.

At least Lalah was finally introduced. That hopefully means we are going to exllore psychic powers from now on. Lalah has them anc it seems Amuro does too.

Edit: I dont know how you guys manage it every time, but this thread was even worse than i thought itd be. Anime Fans and Being Weird And Creepy About Violence Against Women, name a more iconic duo.

@Shioxus For me personally its less the show that is making me uncomfortable, while definitely sexist to some degree it actually does pretty well for a show of its time. Its the reaction to this episode that i find weird and creepy. This whole thread is exhibit B for anime fans being weird about women.

Exhibit A would be every Mal thread about a To Aru Majutsu no Index episode where the MC defeats a female villain by punching her in the face. Nothing at all wrong with that in the show, but the discussion threads make me ashamed to be an anime fan sometimes.

@HadToDoIt There's definitely some truth to what you're saying and I can imagine the To Aru Majutsu no Index threads are a cesspit (haven't been on those threads myself but I don't have any reason to doubt you).

That said, I don't think it's totally fair to come into a classic Gundam thread and scoff at people popping off about characters getting slapped. Maybe you haven't checked out other Gundam episode threads, but Gundam fans get hyped when ANYBODY gets slapped. There's quite a few threads dedicated to people celebrating Kamille or Amuro getting the shit slapped out of them too haha

So yeah I get where you're coming from with anime fans and violence again women in general, but looking down at people in this specific instance feels a little silly since the fans get hyped when pretty much any male or female character gets bitch slapped in this series lol The amount of comments I've seen like "Can't wait for that whiny bitch Kamille to get Bright slapped" or "Amuro's such a brat can somebody hurry up and slap him?" kinda balances that out for me.

@Shioxus Thats the thing, i noticed that too, and actually set my expectations accordingly, but this specific thread was actually worse than i imagined it'd be. People are WAY more excited, and way more people were excited about this slap than any other in the show. And thats a trend ive noticed in general. Women slapping men is so-so mostly depending on context, men slapping men and women slapping women is hype, and men slapping women is HYPE AND EPIC XD.

But overall i really liked this show , so im not blaming it, as like you said there is plenty equal opportunity slapping going around. ^ ^

@ochoko

Honestly, that's what got me the most excited this episode and I honestly thought there'd be a bigger reaction to it. Even on my TV and when zooming in there's like no doubt about it, she's giving him the finger!
Everyone's going literal ape over a slap (while the slap was deserved, the reactions are just a bit hmmm) and it took to page 3 to find even a mention.
Amuro is certainly coming along though too and I'm happy he and Chat finally met face-to-mask. Things are really ramping up now. Shame about his dad becoming obsessive over the Gundam though and not even in a helpful way. I'm not sure if it was the oxygen deprivation or not but at least he showed concern for his son in the first episode and wanted him to get to WB - while he still obsessed over the Gundam, mind you- and now it's like Amuro is just another pilot to him and the Gundam isn't already in deployment.

A fateful encounter . There is too much red tape, just like the tape that was broken. There is even artificial rain. He spots a bird and something sad. Who could dislike the beautiful. She refers to him as something she could not dislike. Why is he here in the first place? The enemy is docking right next to him. The absent father directly states he is proud of his son. Shart is spotted with the mysterious one. Rivals unknown to be face-to-face. She is lala. He is 16. He is now just trying to prove that he is helpful when he wasn’t there when she needed him the most. Although it does seem as though it would be helpful. oh my God.. the pervert now hits the woman. I guess bright is a weak one who is chill with her getting hit right in front of him. I guess no one deserves her. A TV crew arrives. He figures out how they move. The enemy attempts a ramming maneuver. The enemy is defeated, and she perceived it all. He thinks his device worked when it is all just the work of his own. He cries leaving six. 4
