The plot is slow, the pacing is stretched out in a way to end most episodes on a cliff hanger, and there are numerous side plots that don't even add to the main story much.
The latter is actually a good thing, because those are way better than the core story, which is quite frankly very poorly resolved, and the 3 main characters are by far in the show.
Also you hardly ever see the main villain, so the protagonist is basically fighting against the omnipotent author, people said he is among the best characters ever, while getting 0 screen time, people only just tell how scary he is, it's really ridiculous.

I completely agree. I'm in shock with the amount of people that consider this garbage as a masterpiece, not only has like 300 plots that doesn't serve the story, the villain is a lame caricature of itself. It's a complete waste of time

@Rodoju If they cut out the main story, the side plots would actually be pretty entertaining, albeit incoherent.
It's kind of wild how the same author wrote both in the same manga...

It is a bit slow, and tbh it would be better if there were like 60-65 episodes instead of 74. But overall, a very good anime, with excellent ending!

I am on episode 5 of Monster. In my view plot is going pretty slowly. As for now I have no clue how the story can go for around 70 eps. I heard a lot people saying it's masterpiece, but for me it's boring. Will something actually interesting happen and if so around which ep? I am considering dropping it.

It's very much a slow burn, with more of an emphasis on building mystery & suspense than action. I thought the show improved noticeably when Wolfgang Grimmer was on screen, he appears slightly after the halfway point of the show if I remember correctly. Every mini-arc ends in a dramatic event every 10 or so episodes. While others in the comment section will probably disagree with me, I personally thought the ending was a bit of a letdown but that's just me.

If, however, Deyhtyi you find the show to be boring, there's no harm in dropping it. I've learned not to rely too heavily on others' opinions for my own viewing enjoyment, and no matter how many people call Monster a masterpiece, if you're not appreciating the anime than it's simply not for you. At the end of the day, you're the only one having your individual viewing experience and can judge what you find boring/engaging.
