It was decent, but not all that good either, but I do have to admit they nailed down the creepy atmosphere perfectly

Of course it was. The show was in development for 5 years. Not to mention that the first episode set the bar high.

It was an adaptation that started off great but lowered in quality, but that personally didn’t take away any enjoyment for me, I still loved it as much as the manga. Just like Berserk, an anime adaptation will never be greater than the manga, but I wouldn’t say it’s the worst thing I’ve seen this year

The first episode was pretty decent to me, second episode was a bit worse, and the last two episodes were quite horrendous lol.

There's the drop in art and animation quality, Kirie having constant plot armor/conveniences, a boring setting, awkward transitions from scene to scene, lack of explanations and implications for certain scenes that needed them, low rewatchability, etc. The butterfly gang was at least a bit funny, but not in a way where it would make the anime better. The anime not being boring to me though was probably its one saving grace.

Overall, I gave the anime a 1.5/10. Almost at a 2/10, but not quite.

Someone has to say it now, the story of "The Emperor's New Clothes". Junji Ito must be dying laughing when he has people saying that his work "Uzumaki" is a "masterpiece" when this is a bad American grade-b movie script (I don't know about his other works).

This goes beyond the animation, which has not been as "bad" as some insist on saying, that I no longer have any doubts that it is a pathetic attempt to hide the elephant in the room. "Look, it's bad because of the animation, not because this is crazy stuff from a Japanese guy who smoked 5 marihuanas one day and made a story about spirals. Believe me, I want to feel important because I think it's a deep story, my friends say that ".

The day people learn to distinguish between "terror" and "disgust" we will still advance as a global society. I've looked at the manga (again, like episode 1, I couldn't believe people called this horror when it is, in any case, a comedy) and yes, some little things could have been improved but the story is what is.

If instead of Junji Ito his name was "Marco Antonio Aguirre", everything would have been different. Similar to when Oda in One Piece makes mistakes that destroy his work but you have 1000 cultists crying for telling them the truth.

I didn't care much about the animation so it's acceptable as far as I'm concerned. It has pacing issues, and I would have like it better if it were a 12-episode season.

read the manga before and the animation sucked, the story was good, felt a little rushed but kept the pacing going...
Im speechless. they had it delayed twice, and for some pretty good time, how can they deliver such tragedy?

My man Junji Ito must be the most unlucky guy ever, He deverves but can't receive one good adaptation.
How did they drop the ball on him this way so many times?

I rated it a 6/10. Maybe even a 7. The first episode is simply stunning imo, so to that episode in particular I would give it a 10/10, but the drop in quality goes far beyond a thing of animation. I have never read anything from Junji Ito, so I really can't call him a "master of horror" like everybody does. I've only watched some of the adaptations, and I must say it, in terms of script, they are not that good. I wanted to believe that Uzumaki was his opus magnum for everything I heard before this was released, but, it is just above mediocre. I wont say I can't understand why people likes Ito's works, but come on, did we see the same shit? First episode is spectacular because you can see the characters desperation while they witness all the crazy stuffs that are happening, then in episode 2 you have a guy that transforms to a snail, a fight between two girls with some weird ass hairdos, a couple that magically breaks every bone in them and join in a helix, and people, the same people that one episode ago was terrified, takes it like "yeah, you know, just another day in Japan". In the fourth episode you have a gang of thugs that "rides tornados". Seriously, what the actual fuck? The drop in animation quality is the least problem with this anime. And yes, episode 2 is the worst, both in terms of animation and script, maybe I would rate it a 3/10. But for third and fourth, I just assumed it was an unintentional comedy, and they are not good, but also not horrible, maybe a 5/10 for episode 3, and a 6/10 for episode 4. So yeah, if you get the mean, it is a 6/10 for the whole series. It is above average; I would say it is "fine", maybe even "good" if you like this type of cosmic horror-like stories, but not better than that. And certainly it is not unbearably bad as people are saying.

Justifying your opinion about the show based on what you expected it to be ("it was overhyped", "they said it will be awesome", "they said it took them 5 fucking years") is plain stupid. How can you judge something, not because of what it IS but beacuse of what YOU wanted it to be? If you watch anything thinking "this will be the best show ever", then everything you watch will be bad. And that's simply not possible. It doesn't make sense at all. So yeah, trying to be as objective as I can, I agree, it was not that bad, I would go even further, it was actually pretty decent, but even if they didnt have all the production issues they had, it would still not be a masterpiece.
