Let's enjoy Urusei Yatsura! The next 23 weeks are going to be epic.

You're so right. πŸ€— Let's enjoy this everyone!

There's something ironic about it. Urusei Yatsura has existed for 46 years and just when I'm about to discover this world and its wonderful characters, the reboot is already half a year away from being discontinued.

Really wish I had discovered the series sooner. Even fellow students of mine who are also into anime didn't know anything about Urusei Yatsura when I asked them these days.

That's why I think it's great that this masterpiece from 1978 can now be revived again in 2024. Really wish they would adapt all 366 chapters so we can enjoy it for as long as possible. After all, season 1 will be released in a German dubbed version in April, so some poeple have the chance to re-experience the journey again.

But it is precisely this limitation that ensures that we have to enjoy the next 23 weeks to the fullest.✨ Every second of joy they give us is absorbed like a sponge absorbs water.

May Urusei Yatsura Thursdays begin😍

@Hexejulian This series has survived 46 years and people still talk about it today. Even without the reboot, it still had a small but dedicated fanbase. And people were watching the original anime episodes on YouTube before they were removed for copyright reasons. It was a magical feeling.

What I'm saying is, if it's doing fine for the last 4 decades I'm sure it'll also do fine in the next ones. And maybe this is a bit of stretch and wishful thinking but I don't think this is the last we'll see Urusei Yatsura in an animated form. After all, we have the 50th anniversary to look forward to in 4 years. And Urusei Yatsura anniversaries tend to have something special accompanied with them. So I wouldn't be surprised if a new series or a special movie gets announced with something as important as the 50th anniversary. They made an OVA special for the 30th anniversary in 2008 so I don't think they'll skip doing it in 2028.

Well, 1 episode 2 parts of the Remake Urusei Yatsura.
It's a good start, honestly I don't remember the episode numbers from the 1981 anime, but it doesn't matter, since the film adaptation is still based on the manga, despite the fact that this is a restart, it's a pity that the series are only based on the manga and there are no episodes that were invented specifically for the 1981 anime.
It offends that only 10 minutes are given for 1 episode, it is very rare when the entire series is allocated for timing.

Thanks for the encouraging words. It always feels a bit painful when series that you have just taken to heart are about to be canceled.

But like you said, the series was unknown to my generation for so many years and yet it has survived to this day and fans talk about it in the form of forums and it lives on. I'm so glad that this great reboot even exists - even if it's "only" 23 weeks away.

Now that you mention it, I also think that the last word has not yet been spoken. Thanks to the reboot, the series has now gained some fans who are carrying the baton forward. Even when the show is over, it will always live on in our hearts.πŸ’–

I actually think 10 minutes is okay. The manga chapters are all around 15 pages long - fitting that into a 20 minute episode might be stretching it too much. As 0451 already said, the Bubble Gum episode in the original anime was already fused with the Ice Cooler chapter to even get to 20 minutes.
It also reminds me of western cartoon series, which often use the 10 minute format.

The intro suggests that some arcs that take place relative to the end of the manga are being adapted here. Some storys took place over 3-4 chapters. So I think we'll get a lot more 20-minute episodes this season.

the reason it aired on the 13th is because of Moroboshi's birth date :v

I missed this show, the usual, beautiful colors and funny episode. The Ed and Op are bangers (not like the previous ones but still)

I am so pleased to see another version of my favorite skit, with Lum losing her memory of "Human speech". Absolute classic.

Back for 2 whole cours and still hasn't lost its comedic and partially emotional touch.

Lum's plan was brilliant though.

second half of this episode definitely better than the first, liked seeing ataru actually face consequences for his insane actions other than just being zapped for the thousandth time, and subsequently a little bit of actual interest/love for his girl. his first bit of actual character development after the entire first season lol

Guess they decided not to dub this one, oh well, the sub is better probably.

Gonna be weird with new voices.
