| Seeing the rating this film has and the comments in it I was thinking that it would be pretty but confusing and boring. Well for me the former is correct but the latter two not. MAPPA has made a beautiful looking film and I appreciate that effort. I also had no trouble following the story and it was an interesting one. Doesn't reach the top in the time shenanigans genre like a film like Your Name but was still engaging. Not boring either, perhaps its just how the story hits you but while the characters were usually softspoken I never thought they were truly emotionless and had no trouble caring about their fate. Was just suppressed in their unusual situation so I can't criticize storywise too harshly Mutsumi and Matsamune and his family for their treatment of Itsumi. Well those two girls grabbing Itsumi in that little chase at the end baffled me but story can't be perfect I suppose. I would have liked to see the reunion between Itsumi and future Mutsumi x Matsumune and I am disappointed in it being ignored for whatever reason. Their daughter was gone for over a decade, would have been good to see them together again! Would have been better if Mautsumunes uncle could have combined sending Itsumi home along with saving their illusionary world (to hook up with his sister-in-law really) instead of just abandoning the former. These things keep me from praising this too high but still think its a 8/10 film, could see myself watching again. |

| The whole movie feels like a recap. Weathering with you/Suzume without the visuals and music. The most weird incest story I've seen (though it was losing). Love triangle with their own daughter wtf Poor girl, she got cucked by her parents xD |

| The ending left me devastated! I understand the development, I think the idea was good, but there are many aspects of the story that have been left up in the air, this alternative world has an origin, the explosion, it has an evolution, nobody ages, and its end will be the day that the morality of the last being falls, but in between there are many other aspects, of the day to day that are left up in the air. The animation and the music are good and correct, technically nothing to object to. I don't understand why this ending, why a meeting between parents and daughter, why not address more the subject of the parents and their desperation except for 2 sequences, etc... there are many whys and I don't like that. kekeke |
| the story was lucid ,the character interactions worth noticing and the animations done great.I loved quite all characters especially the dad of mc .The exposition behind his motive left in the diary had me teary eyed.Subsequently the roundabout confession by his brother made my stomach curl though.I don't have any problem with the triangle of love.The young girl ever had one meaningfull connection with a person of opposite sex of similiar age.It's easy to see why she would fall for her.I would have liked better to see a better glimpse of the real world and once the three reunited .Also, bet i missed many symbolic moments which can only be deduced by native viewers .It just felt that way 7/10 |
