| Why did that ending make me feel more emotions than I thought it would? I'm kind of "disappointed" that it left off on an open-ending but then that short scene at the end showing where they placed, SECOND COUR!? Maybe? Gosh I really hope so but at the same time, that ending was pretty symbolic to me.... ah I feel conflicted just like Jiro haha anywho, reading the comments I see that it's an anime-only ending so I'll check out the manga for sure. Adding this show to some of my favorite rom-coms. |

So more people kinda bonded with Akari instead of Shiori and are therefore more on her side. Tbh it affected me, too^^ I don't dislike Shiori. I like her and she finally went out of her comfort zone in those last 2 episodes. But if I were to choose who Jirou should end up with, I would also tend more towards the Akari route. Personally I would say to go back to chapter 26-27 as a lot of stuff where left out for this episode. |

| Could have done without the anime original ending but I can understand why they did it, so ehh. Akari carried the show as she does in the manga. That's pretty much about it. |

| As I mentioned before, Shori dragged the entire show down all by herself and it would be much better if she just wouldn't exist. Plain, one dimensional character and complete waste of a screentime, which could be used to develop main couple's relationship. Though Akari teasing Jirou and their interactions are cute, this is still a romcom, which suffers from severe case of GAF and doesn't try to fix that. Strong 5,5/10 |

| "I hope..." You hope WHAT, Jirou!? Ahh, I need more! Definitely going to read the manga now! I enjoyed seeing Akari take initiative with Jirou. But it does get frustrating when he's constantly thinking, "OMG DOES SHE REALLY LIKE ME?? DOES SHE HATE ME?!" Bro, she asked you out and she specified that it's a date, not just hanging out as friends. Akari is a trooper for being able to run in those shoes!! Yet another reason why she's the best girl! It was cute when they encountered all the families and that old couple. Both girls are imagining a future with Jirou and I can imagine what they prayed for at the shrine. Also, random thought, but both of their practical apartments are so clean. I think real-life high schoolers would not be keeping things that pristine and would just be leaving piles of trash everywhere. 8/10 anime for me, loved it and want a season 2! |
| An open ending that pretty much just yells "go buy the mango". Color me surprised /s Still, it was a pretty enjoyable run for a raunchy fanservicey shonen romance with a heart of gold when it comes to the "heroines". Wished Jiro wasn't so plain and cut down from the same wood block of the dense male protagonists, but I certainly had watched worse ones (looking at you Tomoya from Saekano). Heck if Rent a Girlfriend got 2 seasons and a confirmed 3rd I don't see why this wouldn't get another season down the road. The uphill race was quite hilarious with Japan's propaganda to have more kids and save the country from low birth rates. Kudos to most of the support cast that had a lot of prescence in the life of the main characters. kamo was hilarious with his 2D skits and I was pleased to see that he was indeed more interested in real girls by the end of the series. Also some deserved praise for Mei as top wingman and her really nice short story about being the "prince" of highschool and I still want to see if there was an actual love interest towards Shiori. Last but not least Minami for having a very small story that neglects Akari nor Shiori as potential partners. This was a straight 8.5/10 in my books of vanilla romcoms. |
