| I've heard this manga is pretty sad, but I really didn't expect it to be this way straight from the get-go. The ending was pretty dark, and the contrast between the lighthearted art and dark themes creates a really interesting atmosphere. |
| This really felt like a very unusual reading expierence, I really like how Punpun and his family are displayed like this and theres probably a very good reason behind it. I'm already feeling uncomfortable while reading first chapter, I guess I shouldv'e listened to the warnings of not attempting to read this manga but its too late now. |

| I can't take this seriously yet. I'm sure after reading it for a while I will get used to the characters' appearances, but right now it just looks a little too comedic. After reading a lot of dark things with heavy imagery, I can't take the people who are already calling this dark and sad after one chapter seriously either. It feels as though they are just saying that because they know this has a high rating or they have never read anything with serious subject matter before. saito_pure said: I am same age as Inio Asano. But, I believe this prophecy little bit and expected a termination of the world before we grew up an adult. On the other hand, there are a lot of new religions in Japan , and they were preparing the end of the world . Actually, My mother also went to rally/meeting of one of them in a short period . So, Aiko's words are very normal to the kids . At same time, I recall a feeling of hollowness to talk with who believe what i don't agree. Thank you for sharing! Your story really adds a human perspective to this chapter. I am unfamiliar with Japanese culture but I know here in the states many people were afraid of something bad happening when the year hit 2000. |
