For the first time in the whole series it felt like Kajiura Yuki has given the music. The music played at the end was absolutely amazing. But it's quite surprising that the show doesn't have other soundtracks like this. Hope the next season has better ost.

Yeah I also feel the same, This episode had much better OST. Like the one played at the end. Honestly soundtracks have been pretty off putting for me. I love Kajiura but many scenes could have been better off without soundtracks. Kajiura's Soundtracks are having adverse effect instead of amplifying the overall experience. I hope OST are better next season

That's really sad for Vanitas, he's really mentally destroyed because of what he went through with Dr Moreau, at least he has Noe with him now, but that post-credit scene is scary, I hope nothing bad will happen to him :/

I thought Captain Roland was insane but compared to Dr Moreau he is a model of sanity. Moreau is the archetypical, proverbial 'mad doctor', clearly modeled after the Dr Moreau, the mad scientist character from the 1896 novel of H. G. Wells. The original Moreau not coincidentally created human-like hybrid creatures via vivisection in his remote island and also not coincidentally Well's novel has been in the public domain since 2016 (along with all his other works) so every part, character, plot point etc from them are 100% free to employ in other stories.

So Moreau is connected with the Spider dude, that creepy shadowy thing and there is a mastermind pulling the strings and providing support as usual behind the scenes. I bet the World Formula to print unlimited money that the mastermind, and thus the 'last boss' adversary of the series, is Noé's mentor and grandfather of Domi & Louis (RIP). I also suspect that 'No 71' is actually Noé, but does Vanitas know this? If that's the case then Noé either lost his memories or someone tampered with them before being... bought by his mentor.

What I did not get is why '71' in Vanitas' memories kept talking about 'father' and 'father' when the Vampire of the Blue Moon who took them from Moreau clearly looked and talked like a woman. Why 'father' rather than 'mother'? Impressive fight sequences and very good music in this episode as well.

edit: I had no idea there was a post-credit scene! I was obviously wrong, the 'last boss' is not Noé's mentor, it is August Ruthven, the supposed peacemaker.. I was quite surprised!

Really enjoyed the ep
Vanitas and noe leaning back to back was my fav scene in manga and love how anime made it, it was really touching scene esp between vanitas and noe, or more likely between vampire and human (seiyuus made it great too)

Yep am like ronald

Also how the anime executed vanitas's small bits of past as experimental rat is too painful

Damn, that post-credit scene. A lot of things make perfect sense now...

Nice that we got a tease of the OG Vanitas. So they were a beautiful lady, and No. 69 wasn't the only one she saved... but something happened to No. 71, enough to leave Vanitas with a deep wound... What happened to their "Father"? They were exiled from the Crimson vampire society? So many hints teased to make you think you're piecing the puzzle together.

I enjoyed the episode and we got to learn more about vanitas' past again.
After the ending song finished I wasn't expecting that.

I'm gushing over how good the music is!!!
“Why does an apple fall when it is ripe? Is it brought down by the force of gravity? Is it because its stalk withers? Because it is dried by the sun, because it grows too heavy, or because the boy standing under the tree wants to eat it? None of these is the cause.... Every action of theirs, that seems to them an act of their own free will is in the historical sense not free at all but is bound up with the whole course of history and preordained from all eternity.”

I take back what I said about Roland, this dude is so idealistic that he's become trustworthy to some extent. Also, flashback of Vanitas' past soon?

They may had a bad start but glad to see Roland being such a understanding bro at the end.

Also interesting to see this more serious and sensitive side of the usual jester Vanitas.

They're all insane, especially that cliffhanger.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Great animation, but the story has some many holes and plot power moments. Comedy is also quite childlish

I see Vanitas got a holy number and his act is truly something. I feel bad for him, for all the pain and suffering he got through.

"That person" 's voice at the beginning of the episode was glorious. Who's the seiyuu?
Moreau, the a**hole escaped, but we got shortest glimpses of the inhuman torture Vanitas had to go through. His insecurities, the mask he puts on, and a crippled means of just trying to get motivated to stay alive are shown. Also hints of him accepting Noé as a friend he never thought to have deserved so far. Roland with his peak philosophy of life. Take that, church bad trope!
Something felt rushed, but I dunno. Things will really gonna get real hot now!

There's a post credits scene. Decent baddie reveal. But it's not totally about who. It's about "why".
@Laplace_kun

According to MAL the seiyuu for "the person at the beginning of the episode" (/AKA: the Vampire of the Blue Moon) is the brilliant Park Romi 🧑

And I have to say that she once again amazed me πŸ‘ŒπŸ½ totally took me by surprise, wouldn't have guessed that it was her! πŸ˜…πŸ’œ
