R0rack said: I believe it (some facts based on Fujimoto life) Good comment.I don't how much of this story is inspired by personal experience from Fujimoto. But it sure as hell made me wonder First of all, many already love him, so most don't talk about it, but Fujimoto's style is pretty scribbly. I love it because of that, but I can see it totally affecting his own self-esteem as an artist when he was young. Also, when I read Fire Punch, I wondered if he did the backgrounds himself. Given the style he draws characters with, I doubted it was him, but rather some assistant he had who could do awesome backgrounds. I wonder if he'll comment on that at some point. If he had an assistant whom he was very close to. But either way, I could see this was very personal for him. Then there's also the obvious KyoAni reference, which makes me wonder if he did this for himself or for them. Maybe for both, but we'll probably never know. That just makes this story all the more affecting. And for those of you who don't understand the alternate timeline, it was just Fujino's fantasy. And even if it wasn't, then that door was just magical or something. She didn't transfer to that alternate timeline, and just saved Kyomoto in another timeline. However, I doubt that was the case, as when she enters Kyo's room, you can see some comic strips sticked to the window, and one of them had come off, which just happened to go under the door at the same time. There's also a symbolism for the door, and as many other things and little details I saw in this manga, you'll understand it better if you're familiarised with his other works. As in Chainsaw Man, the door represents the trauma. She stayed behind it and imagined all that alternate timeline, but then she opened it and realized it was just a fantasy. She looked back and remember why she started to get into it in the first place. Because of Kyomoto. Then she stood up and started to work again. End of Hiatus. now onto Chainsaw Man Crap, that just gets me more depressed... |

The scenario at the end was definitely only in her head hence the reason it all conveniently goes her way and she manages to save Kyomoto while still securing her help to publish their manga together. If it wasnt obvious by the presentation alone, in the last page you can see a "once upon a time in hollywood" reference in a box in the floor. Without heavily spoiling the movie, ill just say something similar happens there. |

Fujimoto keeps outdoing himself that I can't help but to hold high expectations for CSM Part 2. God he's great in giving life to his characters. I loved all those CSM easter eggs and the successive panels of MC drawing on the desk conveying the passage of time. |

Further Detail: On page 76 we see Fujino going on a hiatus with her Shark Kick manga, with the latest volume being volume 11, which is exactly when Chainsaw Man went on a break. At the end, Fujino continues her manga with new motivation, maybe hints at Fujimoto being motivated to continue Chainsaw Man again after getting this One-Shot done. |

Might be the only time I've finished something so fast and started tearing up because it made me remember why I wanted to draw, why I wanted to teach art, and teach me why I've become bored by it. Because it's becoming my job soon. But now I think I'll love it again. Thank you fujimoto. |

I’ve read this oneshot twice in one hour now (in my first reading I was distracted multiple times and didn’t understand the daydream Fujino had). I know that it’s a story revolving around what if’s, regret and how it’s a parallel to the Kyoani a while ago. But as much as I hate to say it, I didn’t get too emotional from this. Am I dumb, cold hearted or just didn’t fully understand the story? Please help. |

I don't think that there's another person drawing Fujimoto's backgrounds, and the reason for this assumtion is in Look Back itself. It's clear that Fujino and Kyomoto are supposed to be 2 sides of Fujimoto himself, not only because of their combined names, but also because of their two distinct ways of drawing. While Fujino draws this bizarre, kinda messy and not very detailed character models, Kyomoto on the other hand draws in this highly detailed way, and focuses only on the backgrounds. If you put this two artistic styles togehter, what you get is Fujimoto's own distinct style that he has mastered in his manga. Very detailed and beautiful backgrounds juxtaposed with frenetic, simple yet very expressive character models. At least that's what i took from it, i may be wrong tho haha. |

note that i havent read all the previous comments yet , so i dont know if anyone has posted these things yet , but here are my thoughts about this one-shot : plot holes and other things : page 28 : the other girl didnt even go to school , but she still gets her graduation paper ? in these corona virus days , you can study from home , do test from home , and graduate from home ? page 55 : the shueisha editor is a l0licon ped0 , he invites 2 under-age girls into his office , lol . page 69 : - i want to go to an art college . - what ? how is that even possible ? you didnt go to school . you didnt graduate high-school . page 73 : where are her 20+ assisstants ? drawing manga for weekly shonen jump aka weekly shonen dump , without 20+ assisstants , is suicide , because the dead-lines and the editors will over-work you to death , lol . page 80 : breaking news : midday today , an editor began attacking mangaka-s with an axe-like tool , and he axed their manga-s and gave them crappy endings , lol . page 87 : "1 single man killed 12 and injured 3 with 1 single axe" , yeah , these numbers are unbelieve-able , unless these 15 students were just standing still so the criminal could hurt them . how about running away , or ganging up on him ? explaining of the last part of this one-shot , lol : - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . - TVA : Appears to be a standard sequence violation. You don't need a high school diploma to enter one, least of all an art school I'd suspect, you just need to be able to pass the entrance exams. |
